    For those out there like myself who were/are having this issue, I can confirm XBOX ONE S can output Dolby Atmos. There are a few things to note, first the setup.

    XBOX ONE S > LG SJ 9 via (HDMI IN) > HDMI OUT TO LG OLED E6 55IN ARC PORT In my case its HDMI port 2.

    All the support articles will tell you to download the Dobly Acess app and change your audio output settings to Dobly Atmos in the XBOX menu.The Blu Ray settings app will need to be changed to allow my receiver to decode audio option. Since Im able to get
    Atmos Im assuming this was the only setting that did need to be changed.

    In my case my XBOX never recognized my sound bar as being Dolby Atmos and would revert back to bitstream when I attempted to change the audio settings. I am able to confirm the Dolby Atmos signal being decoded as my sound bar displays "DOLBY ATMOS" and Im
    able to hear the difference from the usual 5.1. So getting the settings on the xbox to display Dolby Atmos was never necessary. I should note this only worked after the latest update to my TV and Updating my sound bar via the LG sound flow app.

    Hope this helps anyone who was having issues.

    Small note, Im using HDMI cables from Walmart at 12 bucks each with no signal loss. Just in case someone advises you need those expensive "high speed" cables.

    Xbox One X Dolby Atmos not working

    I have a Vizio 65 4K HDR TV with an LG 9 sounder with Dolby Atmos. Used an HDMI connection for Atmos sound and nothing. Is it my sounder or my X or is it a software issue between the X and Dolby?

    Xbox one dolby atmos upmixer doesn't do anything

    In same boat with Q90R soundbar and LG Oled C9. Staying on dolby digital then.... Super annoying.

    You always would need to know beforehand which content has Atmos.

    I'm gonna post exactly how it went down in case somebody comes across this in the future

    Like I said earlier I discussed with Xbox devs and concluded that this is an issue with my TV. I did extensive (10 hours worth) research and found these resources that helped me immensely:

    I got the service remote from the Amazon link and went to EZ_Adjust menu -> password 0413 -> Tool Option7 -> EDID_TYPE and changed it from PCM to DTS. After this I turned the TV off using the service remote, waited 15 minutes, and turned it back on. It displayed
    "WebOS" as it did a full reboot. After that I was able to adjust to Bitstream out in the Xbox settings and get 5.1 Dolby Digital (yes it's weird that it had to be DTS earlier)! It does have some audio sync issues though, I'll try to solve it.

    EDIT: ok I changed the EDID_TYPE to AC3 and rebooted and it continued to work. In fact the weird little audio sync issue I was getting! Now it's 100% fixed.

    I don't think so, Robin. I had an LG OLED 4K TV. And the Xbox One S was connected to to the LG TV and I used to play 4K games. Even if that's the case to play only 4K Blu Rays, it's still not supporting.
    The Xbox One S plays games at 1080p but if played on a 4K screen, it upscales it to 4K,

    The One X is needed for true native 4K,

    I upgraded my Xbox One to the One S at launch to get full use out the 4K media content,

    Then i upgraded my One S to the One X at launch to play games and media at true 4K,

    seeing that you've already tried what i would have suggested, I'm not sure of what else you can try.
