XBox One S - Options For accessing files on PC.

I apologize to anyone who has noticed that I'm posting a lot of questions on the forums. I thank you for your patience and deeply appreciate your time and any feedback. I'm starting to realize how much the Xbox One can do beyond just playing video games.
My wife and I have had somewhat of a complicated setup for our home theater and am trying to consolidate things through the Xbox One.

One of the things we have as part of our home theater is a PC. For the longest time we had used the PC for Streaming services, watching anime, and listening to music. But now Smart TVs and gaming consoles can handle the majority of it, so I'd like to eliminate
it altogether as it's reaching it's limits and will need to be replaced if we want to keep a PC as part of the Home Theater.

There is still a couple of areas Im trying to address. For this thread Im addressing Anime. Crunchyroll has a substantial library of anime, but it lacks many many many of the ones I prefer from the late 80s through early 2k. So I've relied on my personal
library through the pc. Another thread is approaching the option of connecting my Anime drive directly to the Xbox One, but that is resulting in issues. Issues that may have solutions.

But another direction I thought of, if that doesn't pan out, is accessing the files on my computer from the Xbox One. But that too is resulting in issues. Going through media player, the Xbox One is seeing the pc/laptop, but very very few folders come up.

Does anyone know what options are available for the XBox One S to access files that are on a computer?

    :)

    Hi Varxtis,

You can view and open files from your PC through the built-in File Explorer app on the Xbox One console. You will need to back up these files to an external storage device and plug it into one of the console's USB ports. I haven't messed around with the
app personally, but you may be able to actually store those files to the console's internal storage unit.

To actually access those files and use them, like media files, you need to have a compatible media player downloaded to the console. You can use the Xbox Media Player app or also I recommend looking into

    VLC media player app
as I've heard it will play pretty much any video or audio format.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you!! I Tried VLC, and it's working great for Watching Media Files. Its even showing the MKVs with subtitles. Though it's reflecting the same limitations as media player in regards to the folders its registering. VLC only shows folders #-M and nothing
beyond this. Do you know about this limitation and why it happens?

    - File Explorer XBox One app only shows information for internal storage and Ext Drives connected to the XBox One S. It doesn't have any network options to access files from a PC on the network.

    - I tried an XBox One app called "Files&Folders Lite, but it doesn't provide network options either.

    - I tried an XBox One App called "Network File Manager 10" which definitely provides the option to access a PC on the network, but I haven't been successful yet. I'm entering all the info properly, but it just won't come up. I can access the desired target
PC from other computers and devices (EX File Manager on Android device) on the network, so I know it's not a network issue.

Fair enough. I have a subscription with 1TB, so that might work really well. Thank You!

Id like to keep this thread open for the time being though. I'd still like to know If there's a way to do what I'd like to do, access Folders and Files on the PC from my XBox One S

You can use Onedrive, but you may need to pay for more than 10gb of space.

Probably the simpler option is to solve the problems you are having with the thumbdrive.
