Xbox one s not using kinects ir blasters

Just got my Xbox one s and have noticed that it's using the ir blaster on the console itself and not on the Kinect, it's causing issues not reaching my satellite box as it was working perfectly on my original Xbox, I know it's using the one on the
console as when I cover it with my finger no ir commands work!! Surely it should be using the more powerful ir blasters on the Kinect sensor.

    :)

  3. IR Blaster help

    Hello SparkierFlame54,

I have done some work in the past with IR codes and blasters. However, I have to ask a few questions. Are your expecting the same IR code to be transmitted on both blasters at the same time regardless of the IR codes need for the two devices? Do you have
an Xbox One or One S? If you have an One S, have you tried using the IR blaster on the front of the Xbox to see if IR bounce and scatter can control the two devices? If you have
Xbox One, do you have a Kinect, and have you tried the same IR bounce and scatter technique? With all that said, the answer to "splice in some more wire" is yes. If you make sure to maintain polarity, i.e. don't switch the wires, the only problem
you may have is some signal loss and a weaker output of the blasters.

Now, I can't recommend anything, but doing a quick search I was able to find an "Xbox One Ir Extender Blaster Cable (2 Head, 10 Foot)" at the Web site of a very famous online retailer....

    Good luck and good gaming,

    SA

Xbox Does Not Turn on TV

Hi, if it is an Original Xbox One you would need an IR blaster, like the one built into kinect. If it is an S or X the IR blaster is built in.

    A/V power options

EDIT: You could get an IR extension cable: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/oneguide-live-tv/use-external-ir-with-xbox-one

    Original Post:

The Xbox One S and X models have the Infrared Blaster built in, as Microsoft decided to make Kinect an optional accessory.

Since the original Xbox One initially came bundled with Kinect, the console didn't need an additional IR Blaster built in. The Kinect had an IR emitter already for the depth measuring, so it made sense to put the IR blaster into Kinect.

So without Kinect, the original Xbox One can't control your A/V equipment.

Xbox One S has the IR blaster built into the front. But yes the original “VCR” Xbox One requires Kinect

    Turn on TV via Xbox

Is your console enrolled in the Insider Preview program?

Also, do you have a Xbox One S or X with the internal IR blaster, or is your console an original Xbox One with Kinect attached?

Also try to check if the console actually sends IR commands by doing the following: Start up the camera app on your smartphone, and point it to the IR blaster window on the lower right of the console, or the area next to the Xbox logo on the Kinect.

Try to send a command like volume up/down or actually turning the console off or on. You should see an infrared LED blinking inside the IR blaster window or next to the Xbox logo in the Kinect (it'll look like a purple LED on your camera screen). Do you
see the console actually sending the command?

    Xbox one stopped controlling tv

Same thing happened to me. Turns out my Kinect died. MS wanted $60 for a refurb kinect, so I went to Best Buy and got the IR blasters that plug in the back of the Xbox for less than $10 to control my TV. Just so you know, the Xbone S has an IR blaster
built in on the front of the console.
