Xbox One S not recognizing 4K capabilities through 4K AV receiver

Just got my Xbox One S yesterday. Was excited to hook it up to my brand new 4K TV, only to find it only recognized a handful of the TV's 4K functionality when hooked up to my AV receiver. I have a Samsung KS9000 and a Yamaha Aventage RX-A3050. Both support
the full 4K spectrum, but I only see the full functionality when connected directly to the TV. The receiver is in pass through mode, so I don't see why else this would be happening. I'm also using the latest HDMI cables to and from the receiver. I'd rather
have everything hooked through my receiver to get the best audio from Blu-ray discs. Has anyone else experienced this?

    :)

I would have said that the problem is almost certainly a lack of HDCP 2.2 in your television but the fact that you say your Roku will display this content kind of weirds me out. I still lean towards that being the problem and if so would suggest an HDCP
stripper. The problem is that those strippers can be kind of pricey (mine cost around $250 USD) and that I don't have significant confidence that this will resolve the issue. I'm sorry I wish I had a better answer.

I have a Hisense 65" K680 TV, which is a 2014 model. It doesn't support 60Hz or HDR but does support 4k at 50Hz, 30Hz, and 24Hz, which I have checked along with 4k in the Advanced Settings. Whether directly connected to the TV or through the receiver, it
doesn't pass setting it to UHD for the resolution but it doesn't appear that the XBOX One S even sends out a 4k signal to the TV. Between a Roku 4 and Zidoo X6 Pro Android box, both of them display 4k just fine directly connected and through the receiver.

The Hisense TV doesn't have a way to set the resolution of the input because the TV detects the signal being sent out by the source and adjusts to what it needs to display. When I change the resolution on the Roku 4 from 1080p to 4k, the TV flickers and
then changes the resolution to 4k and the same applies with the Android box. However, the XBOX One S doesn't seem to do this. I have tried a 4k video file on all 3 but the XBOX One S is the only thing that won't play it. I don't have a UHD Blu-Ray to try
and don't have another 4k TV to try it on. Netflix, Prime Video, and Vudu show no 4k content through my One S but I can see and watch those through the Roku 4 without any issues.

I was curious about the receiver thing to see if maybe there was something else I could try to at least get the One S to play Netflix, Prime Video, and Vudu on the 4k TV so I could keep the Roku 4 in the bedroom on the 1080p TV in there.

    Hi

Please try using an alternate HDMI port on the Yamaha AV receiver as it looks like not all of them support this.

Go into the 'Advanced menu' (holding down the straight button and power button on the front of the Reciever at the same time when the amp is in stand-by) - then cycle across to the 4K mode, chose '1', then power off the amp.

Once you've tried this, let us know the result.

    Mode 1 gives 4:4:4 passthrough

I have the same receiver as you - you HAVE to put it to Mode one to get it to work

Help I have a Samsung 4K tv (UN50JU6500) and a Yamaha receiver (RX-V381) as well. I entered advanced setting and changed it to Mode 1 but nada. Everything is red except the top. I don't know maybe I need to unplug the power to the console for it to re-set?

I have the receiver plugged into to HDMI 2. I noticed on my picture settings for the tv under HDMI UHD Color I can only turn it on for HDMI 1, could this be my problem? Should I just swap out the two? Make my cable box HDMI 2 and the receiver HDMI 1?

Never mind, swapping the HDMI ports did the trick and switching the receiver to mode 1.
