    Hello all

    about a month ago, 2 of my kids took their own money and happily bought a new xbox one s console on a trip to canada. They returned and were very happy until.....the console stopped reading their discs. Every time a disk was inserted the console sent the
    error that to start the game the disc license must be read even though the disc was sitting in the console.

    I looked online to see if this was a common error and oh my goodness there were tons of the same issue going on which means microsoft is "knowingly" selling problematic hardware!!!

    Ok, so i got in touch with their support and we went through a whole bunch of attempts to fix it without any results. So i then said ok so it's just one month old so fix replace it. He responded that since i bought in canada but took it out of canada(to
    country other then US) it will cost about $150 i they will only give me a refurbished replacement but no fix!!!!

    it's ridiculous!!

    Wondering if anyone has any experience with something similar and any ideas?

    If you can make your way into a MS Store, and you have the receipt, you should still have warranty on your device, if this is a hardware fault you should be able to have this serviced under the warranty for free.

    Most warranty is world wide with a manufacturer.

    If you created your profiles in Canada your region might be set to Canada on your profile and it will not play American games. if you have an American profile it wont play Canadian games. Xbox one it self is not regionalized. Games, codes, DLC, and Microsoft
    currency is regionalized so if any of the games they have don't work it might be because of that. Heres some information for you, revert to

    Disc not working on second model but works on previous model?

    So I've tried the disc again on the original one, pulling out my external drive and copying the game onto my xbox one s. I then put the disc inside the original one and it started installing. I'm not sure if the one s is just not supposed
    to read skyrim or...?

    Simple Enquiry...

    Xbox One discs are Dual Layer BD-ROM discs 50 GB, which is pretty much standard now. In addition, the One S and the One X can also read UHD Blu-ray feature film discs. Neither the One S or One X can read BDXL discs, I don't know enough about the hardware
    to say for sure if this is due to a hardware or software issue. Note that despite the similar storage capabilities, UHD Movie Blu-ray discs are factory pressed, while BDXL is a writable format largely for burning discs with a PC.

    Despite the One S and the One X's ability to read UHD discs, they will not be used for Game media.

    I always have issues with my original xbox , its my second one both have had issues not reading the disc normally if im having issues i jave to insert another disc then the orginal one again

    I got my kids a xbox s which has jad no issues with the disc drive
