    Xbox One S noisier than original


    I was upgrading my Xbox One to a One S for the HDR support and other improvements, but been disappointed so far by how much noisier the console is than the original.

    The previous model made a regular fan noise, but the new one makes a loud clacking, almost like an electric toothbrush. It's very irritating and makes it impossible to use as an always-on media center.

    I assumed it was a faulty machine, but after getting it replaced I still have the same issue. I figure it's just how the new console sounds, so I've now requested a refund and am sticking with my original.

    Are other people having this issue or have I just been unlucky to get this twice? I'm tempted to try again from another retailer, but I don't want to go through the ordeal of returning again.

    Xbox ONE vs S Noise

    Is S noisy. Want to upgrade to S. Sell my original ONE to my friend. But I heard it gets noisier than the original.

    If you had the original and then the S did you notice any difference?

    Noisy power brick? xbox slim

    My new GOW3 consoles PSU is about 20 times noisier than my black Xbox s. Might swap the PSUs over, its that loud. Bit disappointed seeing as this in an LE Xbox :O(

    Hey NinjaPigeon007! If you the console is louder than the original and it sounds like plastic vibrating on plastic, that is not normal behavior. I would suggest exchanging the unit with the retailer. Post back and let me know how it goes!

    As usual with all Microsoft first batches they are usually faulty and prone to issues so best return it and if you can wait for the second batches,after all there nothing really worth having on the XBOX ONE S yet,returned mine before i even took it out the
    box due to known issues and my gamertag being falsely suspended.

    Comment in this post if you have had your xbox 360 for 5 year or more with no problems

    I have a launch day 360, still going strong. The cooling fan is slightly noisier than it used to be, but that's it.

    360 Power adapter making weird noises ?

    What colour is the light on the side, and what sort of noise is it? The original power adapter does hum a bit, but yours must be noisier than normal. If you're smelling any electrical burning there could be a problem, otherwise its probably just old so there's
    nothing to worry about. Keep it away from anything flammable, just in case ;)
