Xbox One S - No Sound Through Headset Connected to Controller

The default controller that came with my Xbox One S is able to have a headset plugged in and I can have all sounds play through it (chat and game sounds). I have a second controller, the Sport White Edition wireless controller, and I do not know why, but
NO sounds come through that controller when I plug a headset in. I have tried updating the controller, going to the chat mixer settings, and nothing has worked.

I know I can plug it into my monitor and be able to hear game sounds but that then does not allow me to use the microphone on the headset to talk through it.

I have looked at plenty of forums and question topics but nothing has worked. This controller has also just recently been taken out of the box and used only a couple of times so it is essentially brand new and has no damage to it.

I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.

Well you are not alone as now I'm only getting left channel of stereo sounds thru my headset.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting including trying a different set of headsets.

Eventually I reported this issue using the Insider Hub so the devs can take a look.

There is a new firmware update for controllers.

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. In regards to this issue, I understand that you've tried multiple troubleshooting steps. Have you tried using a Headset Adapter in place of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the controller? You can also try this support

The Xbox system does not detect the mic and there is no sound coming out of the headset.

When connecting to a PC or phone the headset has sound. Although I did not test the microphone to see if it was detected at all. I will attempt that later

I still think the issue is with the Xbox one S controller that originally came with the console.

Theory of Game

The Xbox One console doesn't support Bluetooth. That headset won't work with the Xbox One in any way.

The new Xbox One controllers (the ones that come with the Xbox One S) have Bluetooth, but that's only used to connect the controller to a Windows 10 PC through Bluetooth.
