Xbox one s, Netflix not showing 4k available. Netflix on my smart tv does.

So, I got a new One S so I could play my Netflix and Amazon videos in 4k without having to flip flop between my tv and my Xbox. When I list videos in Netflix that I know are 4k, they show as HD. I can watch these videos in my Netflix app on my smart tv
in 4k, why not on the Xbox? It recognized my 4k tv when I set it up. I have already tried a hard reboot, no difference. I am using the HDMI cable that came with the One S. The tv shows that I am displaying 4k. What's the deal? Btw, the console did download
new Amazon, Netflix, and YouTube apps when I started it up.

Netflix 4K Streaming

Trust me when I tell you that my xbox has plenty of bandwidth for 4k streaming. Netflix will not stream 4k in the app unless the movie is actually marked for 4K. The app only displays HD as the option, not 4K like it does on any other device that I have
that supports 4k streaming. I do notice the difference when streaming Breaking Bad (which is a 4k serious on Netflix) on my xbox one via Netflix vs streaming it from the Netflix app on my smart 4k tv. The 4k TV smart app shows the correct 4k option on the
show and the picture quality is wayyy better then on the xbox Netflix app.

 

UHD bluray problem XBox one S

I am having the same experience as ItsParN. I have the Samsung UHD 7250. The smart hub Netflix and Amazon are in Ultra HD when streaming. The Xbox One S dashboard is in 4k or upscale 4k except the Ultra Blu Rays that I try. When I put those in it goes
back to 1080P. Advanced video options in the settings show green check marks for my tv 4K options. The Xbox One S Netflix app doesn't not show the 4k Ultra content. Neither does the Amazon app.

 

Interesting. I have been able to play 4K video from both services.- Marco Polo, for example.

The biggest problem I had was finding the 4K content. I think it was Amazon that I had to do a specific search for "4K" otherwise only the HD content would appear.

 

How can you tell? The impression I've gotten is that Amazon isn't displaying 4k yet. My tv shows everything except the Bluray player is 4k, but I don't believe that's true.

 

I am having the same issue, no 4K apps on the One S only the Blu ray player. All app accounts verified to be correct payment tiers, all apps deleted and new versions reinstalled multiple times, console hard rebooted. 4K apps work fine on my tv OS just not
my Xbox One S OS - any help?

 

Yeah, I don't think any of my 4k apps are showing 4k specific titles. Almost like the apps don't realize the tv is 4k.

 

I figured it out, but I'm kinda bummed about the result. I have to use HDMI 3 which is labeled MHL. My specific tv only does HDCP 2.2 on this port, however, this port doesn't support 4k 10 bit at all. Hopefully this doesn't matter.

 

Interesting, was your 4K Blu Ray player working as well before?

 

I have confirmed in my TV user manual that all of my HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant, so that isn't my issue either...hmmm.

 

Did you find out what the cause was? I'm in the same boat as you.
