Xbox one S, Netflix dims screen when HDR is enabled

    Hey,

Hoping for some help here or maybe just to highlight a rather annoying issue that can be patched out.

I've got myself a new Xbox one S and when I go into video settings and set it to 4K resolution, eveything else is ticked green in regards to my TV being fully compatible with 4K and HDR etc. Now, with HDR enabled, whenever I start up Netflix the screen
dims. This effect remains constant until I quit the app. No other game or app does this. So I suspect it's the Netflix app itself being lame. Is there any work around for this or more importantly, is MS aware of this and can they fix or get onto Netflix to
fix the app? It'd be nice to not have to enable and disable the HDR setting whenever I go between Netflix and games.

    Cheers!

    :)

Xbox One S screen dims when Netflix is launched

I recently purchased an Xbox One S and have noticed the screen dims when I launch the Netflix app. The dim screen remains, even on the home screen, and only goes away when the Netflix app is totally closed.

From reading other forums, it sounds like it's an HDR issue, but I am curious if there is a solution for this?

    Thanks.

  3. Xbox One S HDR Bug

I am having a similar issue on my Xbox One S connected directly to my Samsung JS8500 tv. When I open the netflix app the screen becomes very dim and the screen doesn't return to normal until the app is quit. HDR content looks great using the Netflix app
on my TV by the way, not dim at all.

  4. Xbox one S, Netflix dims screen when HDR is enabled

I've had the same issue since the one S came out. The only way to stop the dimming effect is to shut off HDR in the Xbox settings. Not sure if this is an MS issue or a Netflix issue. But seeing as I can cast 4k hdr Netflix from my phone directly to the tv
with no dimming, my money's on MS issue

Yep. The TV goes into HDR mode when you open Netflix before you start viewing any HDR content. Then it screws up the colors for everything else on the Xbox until you hard reset, or change your output or TV settings. There's another, longer thread about it.

  7. I agree with The Bus Driver. Its only on Netflix that this happens, The colors are *** and blurry. Most of the time it blurs while in the netflix but after a couple app quits and reopens, it will work as intended. Also another issue that only happens with
the Netflix app AND the Blu-Ray Player app is when the app is launched sometimes, 80% of the time, the output signal is lost and video drops forcing the TV to a black screen with the "NO INPUT" error. The only way to fix is either a console reset or input
change on the TV back and forth until the signal can be picked up again. It is a HUGE annoyance. Anyone else have these issues with the video drop? I also get choppy/stuttering playback when watching UHD content, I only own Deadpool and Batman v Superman so
Im not sure if this occurs on other titles. It doesn't skip/stutter/chop when watching the lowly and disgusting blu-ray discs though Xbox one S, Netflix dims screen when HDR is enabled :))

I have yet to see Microsoft or Netflix acknowledge that this is an issue. When can we see a fix for this?

I have the same issue but it happens with anything HDR including Forza Horizon 3. When content with HDR enabled kicks in the Xbox flashes black and then auto dims until the app that is using HDR is closed. It really sucks because it washes out the colors.
The Netflix app on my TV with HDR doesn't do this so it rules out my TV as the issue. What's going on?

I'm having the exact same issue. I have LG E6.

As soon as Netflix is loaded so does the HDR. HDR remains on for all content.

What's weird is when I try an watch HDR content on Amazon it doesn't come on. It sends the HDR signal to the tv then it shuts the signal down straight away.

Same issue here. Microsoft can you please recognize and FIX this issue. I have an LG B6 and I'm almost better off using their built in Netflix App. This is unfortunate as I was hoping the Xbox One S would be my central device.

same exact issue, i have the Samsung KS8500. anything that supports HDR is automatically detected and dims the picture, but it works perfectly fine if i use the built in Netflix app on my tv. I chatted with a Microsoft employee to see if this was an issue
they are aware of and he assured me that they are aware of it. Though, that was quite a while ago...

Same problem on Hisense M7000. UHD Blu Ray playback is stunning but Netflix HDR is dull, brightness dims as soon as you play it.

Please get this fixed asap as it renders HDR netflix useless for me.
