    Xbox One S (Model 1681) E200 0000007B after OSU1 – fails at Step 3


    Hi everyone,

    I'm trying to revive my Xbox One S (Model 1681, 2017). It has sentimental value to me, so I’m really trying to exhaust all options before giving up.

    Here’s the situation:

    • Console boots into Startup Troubleshooter
    • OS Version shown: 26100.7010.amd64fre.xb_flt_2602ge.260212-1010
    • Replaced internal HDD with a brand new 500GB SSD
    • Tried multiple USB sticks (NTFS formatted)
    • Used latest OSU1 from Microsoft
    • Offline System Update starts correctly

    Update behavior:

    • Step 1/3 completes
    • Step 2/3 completes
    • Console reboots normally
    • Step 3/3 ("Applying") progresses up to ~66%
    • Then fails with: E200 0000007B 00000000

    I’ve also tried:

    • Factory reset from Troubleshooter (Remove everything)
    • Full power drain between attempts
    • Multiple OSU attempts

    Same result every time.

    From what I understand, 0000007B during Step 3 suggests boot region verify failure in NAND/eMMC, not a bad SSD or USB.

    Is this likely a corrupted boot region / failing NAND?
    Has anyone successfully recovered from this without a full NAND reflash?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks for responding.

    It is an Xbox one S (model 1681).

    No I’m not in the Insider Program.

    No external storage units

    Yes I tried a factory reset (both with games unaffected, and a ‘wipe all’ one).

    I’ve tried everything from the trouble shooting method . Now it’s half way through a reset and unable to update.

    And I’ve tried rebooting from a flash drive with a PC file (Osu1?)

    I took my xbox over to a friend's house and used her wifi. I didn't have the issue but I also didn't stay for very long. About 3 hours total. I was beginning to think it was the xbox too...

    As I have checked the Xbox model 1681 is an Xbox One S. Can you please check the sticker at the back of your Xbox and check if you can see “Xbox One S or Xbox Series S”?

    Xbox one dashboard freezing problem

    already tried soft reset and factory reset. This is with all games. it is not even loading correctly the xbox dashboard. definitely changing console brand for one with better quality that Company does not try to charge you when requesting a product warranty.
    the model I have is the xbox one s model 1681. So sad MS. you deliver these bad quality products.
