Xbox One - Microphone Icon Always Muted

my headset has stopped working, both in terms of the microphone and the earphones.

I have swapped the headset out for another two other headsets, and indeed changed the controller.

I noticed that the in the top right hand corner of the screen there is a microphone icon, which is showing as muted. I cannot find anywhere to enable this.

The controllers are both patched up to the latest patch, and both of them are showing the volume button in the controller setup menu as greyed out.

The headset brand new plantronics HX400 Xbox headset. I scrolled through whole settings checked them all, nothing wrong by the look of it. Console and controllers are up to date. Microsoft support line has no idea. they kept blaming the headset which
works OK with another console and controller. Has anyone solved this issue?

I spent a lot of time with support on this same issue. After restoring my xbox to factory settings the mute icon is still present before any adapter or headset + adapter is plugged into the controller. Seems to be an xbox hardware issue. Definitely feeling
the same way about making a switch to playstation after almost 10 years with xbox.

Na mate, it simply was faulty audio jack. I replaced it myself and now it works. They just don't want to accept the fact that their product are low quality and breaks down quick...

Thanks for reaching out to us for help concerning this headset issue.

I can understand how not being able to communicate with your friends and other players in general could be aggravating.

Have you by any chance tried using your headset with an Xbox One Stereo Headset adapter?

We have been getting reports of some of our customers having problems with third-party headsets being recognized by consoles and controller and this has been known to be a good workaround for this.

If you can get a chance, give that a shot and let us know if that helped.

Microsoft MUST learn to look at the mirror sometimes instead of blaming other party products. It was in the end a FAULTY AUDIO JACK. I replaced it and now it work. All your staff did was to waste my time trying to avoid a service request under warranty.
I repeatedly said that it was the controller but customer service representative and even YOURSELF here still trying to blame others.

You gotta stop thinking your products are "excellent" or "faultless".

I've sent one of my controllers back to Microsoft to be repaired. We'll see if it will come back as repaired or not....

I have to say that I am very disgusted and disappointed with the way your company handles "post sale customer service" . Still regretting not going for PS4 instead...
