Xbox One S making humming noise while Off, normal?

Hi! I noticed today that my Xbox One S is making this humming noise while the console is Off, like an electric sort of noise, and no, I do not have Instant On enabled. Is this normal? I can only hear it while really close to the console so it is not
something that is going to be annoying, I was just wondering if it is normal or not?

I have the battlefield one Xbox one s and I'm getting a buzzing noise when the console is of I'm using energy saving mode and I've also tried it with out to and still buzzes is this a problem that needs to be sorted,? Thanks.

 

Power brick making noise?

Hello, I'm new to the Xbox One. My power brick stays on long after I turn the console off and it's making a slight humming noise. Is this normal?

 

If it is turned off using the energy saving mode there should not be a humming noise coming from the console.

 

That's really weird, this is my third console doing it :/ Should I return it?

Mine is set to energy saving mode and I can hear a noise if I put my ear to it. I think it's normal.

 

I was thinking of swapping mine but doesn't seem much point if you've tried 3 and they all do it. I think it's just the power going to the machine so it turns on when you use the controller.

 

This is just the power supply giving the console enough power for it to start back up, But However if it tends to get louder un-plug the console and call Xbox Support as your xbox could become a risk for a surge it is best to try a surge protecter and see
if the noise will not be their anymore. But I assure you it's fine unless it's a louder Buzzing,Clanking, ECT...

interesting you mention to use a surge protector. all the support i have seen lately is telling people NOT to use surge protectors, as they can somehow be the cause to any issues, including power, discs, network, etc. the reason given was that the power
supply has its own surge protector built in, and using another surge protector can somehow interfere with the amount of power the console receives. didn't really make sense to me, but that's what i was told here numerous times.

 

Theirs nothing wrong with using a surge protector my X1 has been hooked up to one since its been unboxed its just not a required item I'm only here to provide helpful tips and sometimes they fix the problem my tips are not guarenteed fixes.

i agree, there should be no reason a surge protector would cause issues. i am just mentioning it because i have seen people ask many times when troubleshooting in various threads, "do you use a surge protector". i suggested that that was nonsense, but
they insisted it can cause problems. you probably know, but i am referring to actual surge protectors, not just power strips. however i still see people saying you need to plug the console directly into the wall for some reason... go figure, lol.

 

Well Mine is a power strip but it with a built in protecter, But thank you for bringing it up that (People) Say that i'll watch for that.

Hi QuickMythril & NightstepShadow both the Xbox One and Xbox One S consoles have built in surge protectors that is why it is recommended you plug it directly into a wall outlet. Please see the link below that confirms this.
