Xbox One S Lag Spikes

So ive been having this problem for a little over a year and I cant take this **** anymore. I bought an xbox one S thinking it was an upgrade from the OG xbox but guess i was mistaken. My xbox has this problem where there is constant lag spikes in any game
I play. We have an original xbox in our home and it works perfectly fine. My Xbox one S on the other hand is barely even playable. Ive tried everything to try and make it stop but with no success yet. Anyone have any advice?

My Xbox One S is laggy

In Online games, my Xbox One S has these random lag spikes (A LOT). I use to have a Xbox One, and I never had these problems. Once I got the Xbox One S, the problem started to happen.

Lag Description: Everything else freezes in place, but my character is able to move around. The spike happens from 1 to sometimes 4 seconds. Once the spike clears, my characters jumps back to where he was before he started lagging, and all the enemies teleport
to where they traveled to while I was lagging. This lag spikes happens about every 15 minutes. Please help me fix the problem.

 

Nat issues since the guide update

Yeah, lag spikes, rubber banding and timing out from Xbox live since update.

I have a theory that those with a One S are having issues based on what I am seeing among my friends.

 

I'm assuming you're running a wireless connection to your Xbox One S.

The Xbox is going to be dependent upon the router to provide a quality connection and not all routers handle multiple Xbox consoles well at the same time.

See what you're connection info is on the Xbox One S

Go to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Detailed Network Statistics

It will show you Download / Upload / Packet Loss / MTU / Latency

Download (the higher the better)

Upload (the higher the better)

Packet Loss (should be 0%)

Latency (Lower the better, no more than 150ms)

Wireless strength should be 80% for good performance

Troubleshooting steps -

Power cycle your network by unplugging the power to the modem & router for about 60 seconds. Then plug your router back in and try your game again.

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear > let the Xbox Restart

Try out your games again. And check your detailed network stats

If that didn't help much, try this.

On your Xbox go to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Forget Wireless Network

Go to Advanced settings > DNS Settings > Manual - Set the Primary DNS as 8.8.8.8 and the Secondary as 8.8.4.4

Go to Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear > let the Xbox Restart

After the Xbox Restarts go back and reconnect to your Wireless Network and try your game again.

Try out your games again. And check your detailed network stats

If that fails, consider resetting your router back to defaults.
