Xbox one S Kinect not compatible???

Hi,

Just wanted to express my frustration on Microsoft Xbox one s, I bought for a Xmas present for my daughter. The game she wanted to play is Just dance, danced on lots of videos posted on you tube. So I decide to buy xbox +the game for her present. Only to
find out that you can play only by downloading an app on your mobile or Kinect camera. The last thing I wanted to do is let my girl use my mobile. I didn't want to end up with broken phone, tv or both. So I bought the Kinect camera second hand from Ebay for
£35 only to find out that is not compatible with new version xbox one. You have to buy adapter which will cost me another £100+. Why Microsoft why?????

Kinect Sensor for Xbox One S

How does one get the Kinect Sensor for the Xbox One S? I've registered my old Xbox One, my Kinect Sensor, and my new Xbox One S. It's not really clear where I go to request the Kinect now?

Hi!

The Kinect device is now out of production, as is the adapter. I'm sorry for what happened, the adapter was free for those who bought an X1S, but only until March 2017. Unfortunately, the stocks on the official store are finished and you can buy it from
external stores like Aliexpress or Amazon or eBay.

I am very sorry about this, but Microsoft has decided to stop support for the kinect. Because of this the prices for the kinect adapters have rose due to Xbox discontinuing that item.

You are no longer able to buy Kinect as it has been discontinued. You would have to find one on eBay or another second hand retailer.

It is also not compatible with Xbox One S or X (it is only compatible with Xbox One), so if you desire to use one you will need to purchase an adapter for it to work (just search 'Kinect adapter for xbox one s, or x' on amazon.

Thanks for coming to the forums with this question. When it comes to the Kinect sensor for Xbox One, it is not compatible with the Xbox 360. You would need the Kinect for 360 to be compatible with that device.

Everything does work, you can't blame Microsoft for greedy scalpers jumping in and buying up stock. They announced 25th October that the Kinect was not being manufactured, so it would figure that the adapters would be stopped soon after. They probably manufactured
more than enough but scalpers got them first.

But they are still falsely advertising the XBox One X and Xbox One S as fully compatible with the Xbox One when they are not longer compatible with the kinect, so we can blame them, and I think we could even take legal actions against them since this two
products which are are advertised as fully compatible, are not, because they decided to drop production on a required adapter.

If the Kinect for Windows V2 sensor was not compatible with the original Xbox One, I would not expect it to be compatible with the Xbox One S as well.

This seems to be more of a business/development-oriented Kinect sensor, intended to be connected to a Windows computer only -- not exactly the same as any other retail Kinect sensor you'll find in stores.
