Xbox one s issues after repair

The console worked great for a day the squeaking fan was gone and everything seemed great. So today was my day off i'd got my console back and was looking forward to a day of gaming. LOL that wasn't going to happen.

First it put up a menu while I was playing saying there was a problem with the saved games and I need to delete my local saves but selecting go to settings froze the console, so I powered the system off. But all it did was turn the screen black and the power
light kept flashing, so I did a hard reset.

The system took a while to come back on but ultimately seemed fine so I cleared the local game saves and let them re-sync from the cloud went back to playing 30 minutes later same thing happened again. Did a hard reset again but this time the console came
back on but I couldn’t get any output to the display, I tried different ports different cables and a different TV, I even tried different power sockets with no luck. Frustrated I left it the console off and went for coffee.

Came back to try again put everything back to how it was turned it on and it worked again it was very sluggish and took forever to except input from the controller. I checked to see if the consoles firmware was up to date, it is running the OS version 10.0.17134.3036
but claims it was updated 01-01-1601 00:00. (How?)

I unplugged my external HDD and did a factory reset refused to use my backed up settings add my account back on and reinstalled the game i was playing so far so good, everything seems to be working again at the moment.

I have also noticed that my games with gold tab in my games & apps has gone missing.

Could a weird date on an update be causing problems?

Can i know longer use an external HDD without problems?

    Anyone else had similar problems?

    :)

Microsoft giving free digital games for users with broken disc drives

I was just told this while chatting with an MS rep about a separate issue: "Every console sent in for repair will have a free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription after the repair. However for those with disc unreadable issue, on top of the free 30 day Xbox Live Gold subscription, they'll receive a free game token." They will email the code after the replacement XBox has shipped.

  3. A catalogue of issues :-(

Given these issues have persisted after you've rebooted the hard drive and did a factory reset, I'd assume it's some kind of processing issue and needs a repair.

    Hi

The update date may only say 01-01-1601 because it was the consoles initial update I would be a little more concerned if your console is still saying this after if has updated and is connected to the internet.

I certainly think you should be carrying out a
    network test
to see if this highlights anything that may be contributing to the problems you are having.

There are no updates that is the latest one. Network test came back fine. Did just hear the drive make a clonk noise and when i brought it out off sleep it was sluggish again and the game had been reset. I've been using my Xbox one while the S was being
repaired and everything has been fine.

    Quick update

Well it crashed again this morning would let me open the guide but i couldn't open anything else or control the dashboard, had the same shut down issue screen goes black but power light keeps flashing.

Upside i found out why the screen stays black when it's switched on, because the boot animation/splash screen/green Xbox screen is missing. you would think the repair centre would have noticed that. At this point i want my chirping fan console back, sure
it was annoying but at least it worked.

Thought it was actually fixed but no.

Got the July update last night this restored the green animated boot screen that was missing when it was returned from being repaired. And now states it was updated 05/07/2018 20:24 and not 01/01/1601 00:00.

Started playing Hellblade, did about 30 mins then had to stop and do something. Game resumed fine and i did about another 2 hours, then had to stop again. No resume when i returned, which happens sometimes but a few minutes into launching the game Boom fix
your saved games pops up again selected cancel this time as selecting go to settings keeps crashing the console. game just continues for about a minute then starts to lag. Guided out to the dashboard and started to slowly lose control eventually having to
push the power button with same result black screen flashing power button won't shutdown, held the button in and it turned off turned it back on and no signal to the plug out for a few minutes. system turned back on as if nothing had happened.
