Xbox one S is insanely bad - how do I get a refund?

That's crazy. Has nothing to do with your XBOX, and everything to do with your internet connection. We have 2 XBOX ones in our house, and download multi-gig games at the same time, and usually are playing the game within minutes (still downloading, but
have playable content).

Also, average game size isn't even close to 50Gig. Whoever told you that is incorrect. We have about 20 downloaded games on one xbox one and it's a 500 GB console. This includes Madden 16 and 17 and NBA 2K17. All "big" games.

Why you think you need to ask on a forum how to get a refund is what is strange.

 

Maybe try to read what people write as a start - you just dismiss everybody complaining(in other threads too).

She talked about downloads.

For some reason the console is bundled with game codes only, so yes you need to spend hours downloading first thing - if depending on the bundled game.

Even installing from disk takes time, but maybe 15-20 minutes or so on AAA games.

Just out of greed, I had a code for Fallout 3 yesterday - and it took over 2 hours to download, even though testing at the same time I should have it down on 45 minutes tops.

So MS servers are not up to the task.

I did read the post,especially the part that says "even though they have the disk". I suggest you read things before jumping on someone.

I only dismiss people who complain about something that is common knowledge & can be found out about in less than 5 minutes or people blaming the console for their crappy broadband speed

 

That sounds weird.

I've just got mine, and yes, I had to download everything (almost) once again, but it only took me 1.5 days but I had tons of stuff to download and I didn't mind, I left the console downloading everything while I was at work.

Also, I have my external HDD and all games installed there were ready to play

 

In fairness, this is the first generation that has required game installs from discs and such huge downloadable patches. While many people were aware of those things just from browsing forums and such, not everyone keeps up with that kind of stuff like the
regulars here do. Somehow I don't think too many people are going to decide to Google "Xbox One disc and download installation times" when it's not something they've ever been accustomed to. Just because someone *could* find the info within 5 minutes doesn't
mean doesn't mean that they would have a reason to be searching for it in the first place.

 

True but if I was lashing out £3-400 on something as a present i'd find out about it first before buying it by maybe that's just me.

 

With Xbox360 installing game on internal drive was optional. I usually installed the game on the drive because as others have stated, with the speed of the processors and demand of the games, Games would be horrendous to play if you played from a disk. You
also need to consider, this is not an 800mb. Blu ray disks can hold up to 50 GIGABYTES of data. And I bought a few games that are 30+GB in size for the games. Imagine trying to have a console read 30GB of data to load while your playing the game. Its not possible.

I bought the XBox One for my daughter for Christmas and yes, after setting up the XBox and trying to play a game, it took a while to copy the game. then download and install updates to the game. Which is also another benefit. With the game files on a drive,
your not just stuck playing a game on a disk that is not updatable.

My gripe is with the gaming industry. Why, after installing a game on a console, do I need to insert the game to play it any time I want to play it. Why not include a license code in the game that allows you to install it, install the code and then play
on the fly without switching disks..

Good luck with the PS4 and finding out like others said you will need to do the same thing as you do with the XBox, and correction, if you have a good high speed cable or fios network at home, Your looking at about 30 minutes to download the game to the
console and its updates. To just load the disk to the console has nothing to do with network connection to interfere with the speed of the game copying.

One more gripe, when your installing a more than one game from the internet, not from disk why cant you download multiple games at once.

Overall, after getting everything setup. I really like the Xbox One system.
