Xbox one S is insanely bad - how do I get a refund?

It's been one day already and we literally cannot play even one game. First, I have to download all games to play -- even though I have the disc. As mind-boggingly insane as that company decision sounds, it can take up to *two* days for a game to download
even with high speed internet (I am definitely not alone in this; see this forum for other reviews to verify this - http://bit.ly/2h3D6pk). That means that if I have 10 games, I can expect up to 20 days just for downloading them...and that's even when I have
the disc. Another problem with the terrible idea of making me download games I already own is that if you have the 500 GB console, I'll run out of space after about 8-10 games, meaning that's all I can play at a time. So, I will have to delete it from the
hard drive, and then spend another 2-3 days re-downloading if I want to play it again. (This is was verified for me in a chat with an xbox representative).

So, my main question is: how can I return and get a refund from this?

Got the Gears Of War Xbox One S amd noticed that in my stirage tabe. Now obviously there is necessary system data, but isn't that insanely excessive?

Of course not all hardware can handle HDMI 2.0's higher transfer rates with a firmware update, but if a lowly TV can do it of course an insanely better piece of technologically advanced hardware like the Xbox One can figuratively do it blindfolded.

 

You would have to contact the retailer you purchased it from for a refund.

 

Exactly... Do people really not know how to return something they purchased? That's just kwazy.

 

We bought at Target and got the protection plan. I called and they will refund it to us, even without the boxes (which we threw away under the wacky assumption that the xbox one S was actually usuable and operational). They will let us exchange for Sony
Playstation, which can't be nearly as miserable as xbox one S. I've had all the versions of xbox for years, since day one, and am never going back.

 

Just an FYI, PS4 requires disc games to be installed as well.

 

I definitely prefer the PS4 over the Xbox One personally and sold my X1 due to lack of use, but after hearing your complaints it doesn't sound like you are going to be much happier with your PS4. While the download times you are describing do sound ridiculous,
that's much more likely to be an issue with your network than the console. Hopefully things work better for you with the PS4, but huge day 1 patches are just part of this generation and not console specific. The default PS4 also has the same 500GB hard drive
size and all games this gen require installation for use, so don't expect any difference there. Granted, the PS4 does make it extremely easy to replace the hard drive, so you can upgrade without having to attach an external drive as you would have to with
the X1.

I know people who play PS 4 without installing the game on their hard drive. I don't know if they're working around it or what, but it is possible. That's good enough for me to switch from the crappy xbox one S to PS 4. At least one can actually play games
on it within 24 hours of purchasing it, which is impossible to do with xbox one S (at least the one I have).

 

No, you don't. It's not possible. Sounds more like you've misunderstood something that these people have told you. Modern gaming systems (well, the X1 and PS4) simply cannot read from discs fast enough to process the data, which is why all games have to
be installed. Neither the PS4 or Xbox One work that way. Here, I'll even save you the trouble of demanding proof again:

Every Ps4 disc game installs period. After you put the disc in and depending on the game you can begin playing it in about 40 secs. But as you play the game is still installing so some features like multiplayer or others might not be ready to play just yet. if
you have games bought off PSN or if a big patch is needed to download then put the system I rest mode. It makes the downloading go super fast.

 

I agree that the initial user experience is absolutely appalling. On Christmas morning children just want to tear off the paper and then play! Instead, they're made to wait hours whilst a game downloads even though they have the disk.

Never again will I buy an Xbox for Christmas.

 

Less than 5 minutes of research would of told you that you need to install games before you can play them.

 

But Daft... that's a long time in the world we live in these days.
