    Xbox One S is ignoring controller input


    Hi I have a Xbox One S and have had it for approximately 2 years. I am having issue with the Console recognising controller inputs. This has been increasing in occurrence over the past 5 months.

    It has got to the point where I have had to look at purchasing another console to get my gaming fix.

    Main issues are:

    - Controller will initially work for about 30 minutes

    - When the issues present I cannot move the cursor on the screen. E.g. On the dashboard the cursor will flick to the next object and then return to its original position. None of the button are recognised by the device

    - When the issues present no controllers will function. I have tested a second wired controller and the Xbox remote via Android phone.

    Can you please advise whether this is likely to be a software issue? Is there any relationship to recent software updates?

    I have had Game Pass for a couple of months now and am missing using the subscription due to this issue.

    I would recommend you to restore your console saving your games and so we’ll see if it’s a software problem or if you have a hardware problem and you have to send it to service

    Did you try to reset console to factory settings?

    Did you try to use different controllers?

    In this case if you try all that, you will need to send your console to service.

    Hi mate, thanks for your response.

    Unfortunately it doesn't matter which controller I am using.

    I'm expecting that it is a software issue, however it isn't a bad idea to do a factory reset. I had been holding off as I wasn't keen to have to reinstall my games. I dont have a decent EXT HDD to back up everything.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

    Unfortunately as I indicated in my post, when the issue presents it doesn't matter which controller I use. The cursor and/or buttons will not respond with any controllers regardless of whether they are:

    - wireless

    - wired, or

    - virtual (Xbox app remote)
