    Xbox One S in "instant-on"

Hi, I have a problem with the console, when it goes into the "instant-on" mode, every 4-5 minutes it wakes up, then i hear the fan and HDD lightly, then it go to sleep again and all time 24/7.

    Summary:

    >>> wake up for 4-5 minutes >>> sleep for 4-5 minutes >>> and all the time all day

    I did:

    - Factory Reset

    - Shut down automatic updates

    - the portable HDD is switch off

    Unfortunately it didn't help.

It seems to me that this is not normal behavior of the console, if it is wrong to correct me.

    :)

Slow network bug (Xbox One S Instant On)

this problem is related to the xbox one s and instant on (if you disable instant on its fine) the xbox one s has a different wireless card that the xbox one.. for this problem it shows slow speed when you do the network test...

so I got the new update today and I figured I would enable instant-on again to see if the problem was fixed. NOPE (kind of figured so) power up from sleep and got slow wireless speeds 1MB on the tests from the xbox one. disabled instant on and its fine (varies
from 60-140 or so but that's normal for wireless)..

is there anything else I should be doing to report this issue and get some kind of a bug id created for tracking????????

    Xbox One S D/L speed is 16Mb

Its a current bug with the Xbox One S - Do a restart of the console and you'll get the speed back. It's an issue with the Instant On setting

    Hi Tomek,

When you say the console wakes up every 4-5 mins do you mean the console is actually turning on or you just hear the Xbox every 4-5 mins?

When the console is in Instant-On mode it takes a small amount of power to allow it to startup faster and keep your console and games up to date when it's off since it's always connected to the Internet. Whenever the console updates, the fan can come on
and if you have an external HDD it can make a noise since most HDD's are directly powered by the Xbox through the USB port.

By any chance is you Xbox enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program? The Insider Program sends console's enrolled in the program with preview updates regularly so those console's download a lot of updates periodically.

I suggest to test out if the Instant-On mode is causing this to switch to Energy-Saving and test it out for at least 24 hours if it's still making noise every 4-5 mins.

    1. I just hear the Xbox wake up every 4-5 minutes, not turning on.

    2. Mobile HDD it's disconnected, but Xbox wake up every 4-5 minutes.

    3. I do not belong to the program Xbox Insider.

    4. In power saving mode the xbox does not turn on, it works normally.

    5. There are no update entries every 4-5 minutes on the console's download and update queue,
    but xbox "wake up".

    Hello Tomek929!

The reason the console starts spinning up audibly is because in Instant-On mode the console does not power all the way down. It goes into a type of hibernation or "sleep" mode just waiting for the next time the console gets booted up. Switching the console
to Energy Saving mode will fix the situation but may also cause longer boot up times.

About energy-saving and instant-on power modes

    Hope this helps

Thank you for your help, I only have a question if these constantly waking up does not hurt the console? I'm just afraid of it. If it hurts, go to save energy

    Hi Tomek,

Being in Instant-On mode does not harm the console. If the Xbox starts making loader fan noises or any other unusual or loud noises than switch it to energy saving mode. However, I think your console should be just fine in Instant-On mode. I would suggest
to plug it directly into a wall outlet if it is not in one because the power supply in your console works best with it's own power source and not shared with others on a power strip or surge protector.

If you have any more questions feel free to post again on the forums.
