    Xbox One S HDR

I am having an issue where I cannot get an HDR feed from my Xbox One S.

Please note: I have gone through the troubleshooting steps already.

TV: Sony Bravia 55X850D (4K HDR 2016 Model)

    Plugged into HDMI1

Cable: Blue Jeans HDMI Series-FE plugged directly from X1S to TV.

I do not have issues with the 4K UHD, but when I go into the advanced menu HDR is not an option. When I then try to manually set it up, I get a teeny tiny little screen, and HDR still is not an option but 3D turns into one.

While the picture is great watching movies in 4K, where HDR is supposed to get more game support than 4K I really want this to work right. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    :)

    Xbox One S HDR

    Hi

Have you tried using the HDMI cable supplied with the console to see if you suffer the same issue with that cable?

I'm having the same exact issue I have no problem displaying 4k but my HDTV does support hdr 10 but no matter what i do the hdr option is greyed out . This is rather frustrating as I would love to see what hdr looks like on my tv. I'm using the supplied
HDMI cable that came with my xbox one s. My tv model is a Hisense h8 series model number 50h8c

I have a Hisense 43H7C with the same issue. The Hisense 2016 4K televisions do "process" HDR10 metadata but the Xbox one s does not recognize the capability and I'm using a high speed HDR capable HDMI cable as well. I know the HDR works because I've tested
it with HDR video on a USB stick and the tv's built in media player. There needs to be a way to force the Xbox S to output HDR regardless, or Hisense will need a firmware update to allow the Xbox to recognize it can process HDR....

I have a Sharp LC-50n6000u which is owned by Hisense. Materials that came with TV say it has HDR Processing but as others here have said, The Xbox One S does not recognize it.

oldskoolluva and ArenSkunk - is it really a problem? These displays can decode HDR but neither of them can actually display the content as HDR....there is a big difference between the two. You're almost certainly better off without the HDR processing enabled
on these tv's. It wouldn't improve the picture any but would most likely increase latency.

Actually @ Nillaz, it is a problem and that is incorrect as I understand the difference. These tv's do process HDR and display it as HDR, or at least the benefits of, as I said in my original post I have tested it on my set using the same exact video, one
encoded with HDR and one in plain 4K. The difference between the two is apparent and conclusive with the HDR video having a much wider color gamut, much deeper blacks and brilliant whites, etc. Now do these sets at they're respective price points meet all
the criteria to be classified as HDR10, probably not, however I am convinced these sets will in fact benefit from HDR with the slim, I have been in contact with Hisense, and they are aware of the HDR issue with the XBOX slim and they're R&D is said to be working
    on a solution.

By the way I have confirmed that my TV is using HDR 10 and I have tried using the supplied HDMI cable from Microsoft. I also checked the ports on my TV and the only different HDMI port is one that supports audio return, but that should have no impact on
    HDR.

Anyone from Microsoft have any ideas? Do I just need to call? I was planning on buying the new Forza via pre-order to give the HDR capabilities in a game a spin, but I'm not going to if this won't work as advertised.

Also it should be noted that my Amazon Kindle HD does not have any issues with this when connected directly.

  11. Identical issue here with the Epson 5040UB:

    forums.xbox.com/.../2202158.aspx

It oddly recognizes that the projector supports HDR but all modes are listed as unavailable and it will not pass an HDR signal.

A HDR game list for Xbox One S?

Erm........................You do realise that any game that runs on the Xbox One X also runs on the Xbox One S? And because of this, any game that is HDR on the Xbox One X is also HDR on the Xbox One S.

So basically, any game you find that is HDR on the Xbox One X is also HDR on the Xbox One S

    Is that official?

HDR is an "Xbox One X Enhanced" feature for those games, that's official words.

For example Rise of the Tomb Raider, NO HDR on Xbox One S.
