Xbox one s HDR not working on Samsung tv

I have an Xbox one S and the HDR is not working correctly. The 4K is fine but when I turn on the HDR for a 4K blu-ray or a HDR game like gears of war 4, the screen becomes very dark and dim instead of making the picture better and more vibrant. I have
a Samsung TV and I have heard of others having the same problem with multiple 4K TV brands. Please any help would be great.

    :)

  2. HDR not working in-game, Xbox One S

I have HDR enabled on my TV and Xbox One S. HDR works on the Xbox One S for youtube/netflix just fine. however it is not working in any of my games. If the game has an HDR option in the options menu, such as Battlefront II, the option is grey and is not
    able to be selected.

Please help me. All settings in Xbox One S settings menu and on the TV are configured correctly. HDR is working, but not in-game.

    Plz help..

    Thanks

    Xbox One S - Which HDR TV's?

    support.xbox.com/.../troubleshooting-4K-and-HDR-on-xbox-one-s

    ->

"Names for HDR10 HDR Premium, High Dynamic Range, HDR, UHD Color, Ultra HD Premium, Ultra HD deep color "

UHD Color is the Samsung equivalent of HDR10 and supported by the 40" Samsung TV model in the other thread. Look it up in the manual. The other guy mentioned also that he eventually got an LG, so there's another HDR supported 40" panel for your needs.

    Hey Mr Blankman -

Couple things I'd like to have you try here. The easiest one is to hold down the power button on your Xbox One S console for about 10 seconds and see if that helps. If not, do you have another HDMI cable you can try? And can you try different HDMI ports? Is
your TV software fully updated? There is also the >>4K/HDR troubleshooting guide<< that you can
    take a look at.

Give those a shot and keep us posted. Xbox one s HDR not working on Samsung tv :)

Best TV to play with xbox

There are some very good TV's right now but if you have an Xbox One X or S then look for a 4K TV with HDR. At the moment one of the best LCD televisions is the Sony XF90/X90F but there are also many very good televisions from Samsung and LG.

Samsung KS8000 and HDR10 for games and Bluray

Plenty of threads I've seen with people driving the Xbox One S's 4K output through a receiver is often due to the receiver being at fault, because the receiver's specifications for various HDMI features (4K, HDR, 60Hz, etc) are often minimal, if not outdated.

With the above being the case, the Xbox One S will be checking the "4K TV details" criteria against the receiver itself, not the TV.

As Sho K1lla mentioned, it is best to connect your Xbox directly to your TV. Your Samsung KS8000 should support HDR10, which is the type of HDR profile that the Xbox One S uses.
