    Xbox One S HDR Bug

Just to add I think it happens 99% of the time when using Netflix. In fact as soon as you launch Netflix it will automatically switch to HDR mode even when you aren't viewing the handful of HDR content that Netflix provides. I've yet to test 4k Blu ray,
but i'll have to try and find HDR content on Amazon Instant Video as that doesn't automatically switch viewing modes.

Nemesis971, the Xbox One Amazon app does not currently support 4K, so you won't have any HDR problems caused by that app.

    Hey everyone,

Does the issue persist if you were to change the TV resolution to 1080p? To do this, follow these steps:

    Settings > Display & sound > TV resolution > Select 1080p

As long as 'Allow 4K' is checked, changing the TV resolution to 1080p will not affect native 4K content from displaying in 4K. After the resolution has changed, restart your Xbox One console and see if the issue persists.

    Thanks!

    Same issue for me

Open Netflix and HDR enables on my TV even though I haven't started any HDR content. Stays in HDR mode until I open another app or game.

    TV: Samsung JS8000

I tried this, the color degradation of Netflix goes away, however 4K no longer displays as an option for any of the content and it does not play in 4K. Also the issue of cutting out persists through 4k hdr UHD Blueray movies regardless of being set to 1080p,
it does however switch to 4k hdr automatically when playing the discs, but it actually cuts out more than when its set to 4k uhd

    Hey AirborneMaikai,

Could you specify what's cutting out? Is it picture or audio? The issue detailed in this thread is after exiting 4K HDR content, the TV recognizes that and turns HDR off only to turn HDR back on immediately resulting in over-saturated images.

It sounds like the issue you're detailing might be a little different? If everything you're experiencing matches up to what JetHaemon listed out in his original post above, please let me know! If it does turn out to be a little different than what you're
seeing, please feel free to post a new thread so we can treat that as a separate issue.

    toxtra,

Does that white screen occur immediately when opening games, apps, etc? Or does that occur similarly to how JetHaemon listed it out where you are able to view HDR content fine, but the TV switches back to HDR after that specific content is closed resulting
in a over saturated picture/washed out images? If the issue is different, I definitely recommend posting a new thread with the information you provided.

    Thanks for you patience everyone!

    Xbox One S HDR Bug

My issue is my screen goes completely white shortly after I start playing a game,. It's happened on rock band 4, Forza horizon, fast and furious, etc. It's only an issue on my Xbox one S and I have tried the included Cable and an Amazon premium high speed
HDMI cable. I have to reboot the xbox one to use the system again.

Havent read up on answers on this but its a easy fix. Just set the Xbox one S at 1080p and to enable 4k from Apps n disc. This turns off HDR going from a movie to the dash.

And looks better as Xbox S upscales to 4k on games worse than a good tv does itself.

Will HDR for games like Gears of War have issues since the game is 1080p but supports HDR?

There are problems with the Netflix app and settings for 4K content and 2K content. I have Sony 940D 4k TV and XBOX is forcing me to change all the brightness and contrast settings for 4K UHD disks. And those settings then make the 2K content too dark and
I have to set them again. When watching content directly on the TV using the Android TV Netflix app both 4K and 2K content from Netflix display properly. I have tried 4K discs of The Martian, Independence Day, Batman VS Superman, Star Trek and Star Trek Into
Darkness and all exhibit the same behavior. Watching Stranger Things or Wet Hot American Summer on Netflix looks fine when I use the settings for the UHD discs but when I switch to Marvel Agents of Shield the picture is way too dark. I know that the app has
been upgraded to 4K and I am paying the additional Netflix fee to get the 4K content so would appreciate some help and insight into fixing this. Thanks!

    Xbox One S HDR Bug

    Hello everyone!

LG just released a new update on how the TV handles HDR signal. It looks like I have no issues with over-saturated colors since today's update. Every time I go back to dashboard and close the app runing in HDR I just go back to the standard TV picture modes,
without any notification coming from my TV. The NETFLIX app is still entering HDR as soon as I start it , independent of what type of content I am watching.

Once again I have an LG 55E6V.

I own an Xbox One S with most current updates and a Vizio M55-D0 55'' 4K HDR enabled TV with the Firmware v2.0.13.13 update that enabled support for HDR10 (it already supported Dolby Vision).

Xbox One S Video Output settings: 4K resolution, 4K enabled, 24fps enabled, HDR enabled (advanced TV details reveal my TV supports everything but 50hz). Color Sampling set to 10bit. Although my TV's specs report HDMI can handle 12bit color apparently the
included HDMI cable cannot handle that bitrate nor do I believe any content actually offer more than 10bit color. (Setting the color to 12bit results in complete blackouts of video signal when attempting to view a 4K Blu-ray).

Vizio M55-D0 Settings: HDMI 1 Color Subsampling Enabled (enabling HDMI sourced HDR). Xbox One S connected with included HDMI cable directly to HDMI 1.

    1. Deadpool Ultra HD HDR Blu-Ray (encoded with HDR10) plays fairly flawlessly with the Vizio companion app showing that it is playing in HDR and showing dramatic improvement over the darker and less vibrant playback with HDR disabled on the Xbox One S. Notably,
the video signal did still drop occasionally out as if the HDMI cable was being overwhelmed with data or perhaps the disk reader in the Xbox was having trouble reading the data quickly enough. The Blu-ray plays flawlessly when HDR is disabled and the disk
recognizes it doesn't need to read at such a high rate, also presenting a message confirming it detects it cant send an HDR signal.

    2. Netflix app produces issues reported above. Upon launching and giving Netflix full control over the audio and video output, the color, both within the app interface, videos and on the Xbox Dashboard itself become distorted and washed out (and the resolution
of the dashboard seems to increase). When playing content that is advertised within the Xbox Netflix app as HDR, such as the movie "The Do-Over", or series like Daredevil S2 or Marco Polo, the Vizio companion app reports that that the TV is not receiving an
HDR signal. The video appears noticeably grainier with blacks showing artifacting compared to using the same app with HDR disabled in the Advanced Video Settings on the Xbox One S. The color and clarity of the image is far improved with HDR disabled vs attempting
to enable HDR and still not actually receiving an HDR signal. It may also be noted that there appears to be a video signal drop out (not pauses, but missing video) as with the Blu-Ray in HDR present when attempting to watch Netflix with HDR enabled. It appears
as though the included HDMI cable or the system itself is struggling to deliver the data. With HDR disabled, 4K content seems to stream perfectly with this app and looks really good despite not having HDR.

    3. Amazon Prime Video, which although it does not produce the color distortion that the Netflix app produces when launched, also does not seem to send an HDR signal when streaming Prime TV Shows that supposedly offer the feature such as "Mozart in the Jungle"
or "Transparent". 4K in general seems to work fine though.

This is frustrating for 2 reasons. One, I'm not getting HDR content from apps (Netflix or Amazon) as I'm supposed to as well as the inconvenience of having to enable/disable/reenable HDR functionality when using Netflix. Because Deadpool is encoded using
HDR10, you would assume the HDR10 used by Netflix or Amazon would be decoded correctly by my TV. Also, the TV came with native Dolby Vision support, in the event that's what they used.

P.S. Only Netflix and VUDU offer native 4K/HDR streaming to the TV via SmartCast built into the TV. While VUDU streams my 4K movies (Batman v Superman: DOJ) in HDR (confirmed by Vizio app) and looks fantastic, my native Netflix cast ALSO produces the color
distortion, washed out blacks, and graininess that is present when attempting to play on Xbox One S with HDR enabled. I'm assuming Netflix must be responsible for the color issues i'm experiencing.

Pissingoutnails, the Amazon Instant Video app for Xbox One does not currently have 4K support. So that is probably a big part of the reason you're not getting the HDR you expect.
