    I have a seagate 1tb hdd from a xbox one s and id like to recover media files. It seems the drive is formatted into five partitions for the xbox, one being user content. Id like to retrieve game media saves like recordings/screenshots. Is this only possible
    when interfacing from the xbox? The xbox has a bad display out hdmi. Id like to use the harddrive as an external drive once i get those files and have the necessary components to do so already.

    As long as you use an official Xbox 360 S hdd in any model Xbox 360 S you are OK. It's possible that your original post was misinterpreted as promoting the use of an Xbox 360 "Classic" hdd in an S model, which a) would not be possible unless you were to
    mod the hdd module and b) if you DID mod a Classic hdd to fit in an S console you would be in breach of the TOU.



    I don't believe anyone is suggesting that using an official, unmodded, un-tampered with Xbox 360 S hdd in the hdd slot of a Xbox 360 S 4GB model would be in any way breaching the TOU.

    There is only one official HDD for the Xbox 360 S, and that's the 250 GB HDD. If you have an official drive and your console is not modified, those games will work.

    which xbox is it, if xbox one or one s then could be the hdd is corrupted or failing, full factory reset might be needed again or repair.

    the one x comes with a standard 2.5" mechanical drive. the only thing that changed with the hdd specs from the xbox one s and x is the x uses SATAIII where as the one s uses SATAII.
