Xbox one s will not save the Wireless alternate mac address that has to manually be changed for alot of us,after i manually enter the mac that i need to use to access the internet wirelessly the console restarts but the wireless mac address i entered
manually has not saved to the console.

Microsoft Locked the wireless alternate mac address on the new xbox one s , this means if you have to manually input the wireless mac address you cant, even if you manually input the wireless alternate mac address it wont take after the console restarts..this
is bad new gamers, you been warned...if you need to manually enter your alternate mac address then dont buy a new xbox one s.

also noted that every game console lets you change the wireless mac address, even the original xbox one lets you change the alternate mac address to the one you need to use...but the new xbox one s locked us out in changing the wireless mac address manually

 

Xbox One S - Alternate MAC Address 'Spoofing' No Longer Works for Hotel Use

I hope this saves people hours of searching.

As the title reads, using an Alternate MAC address no longer works on the Xbox One S.

I tried for hours to figure out how to change the MAC on my new Xbox One S, so I could use it while I am at a hotel (I travel a lot). When I went into Advanced Network Settings and changed the MAC, the system rebooted, but reverted back to the old MAC.

I even tried to change the MAC address on my laptop Wifi adapter to match the Xbox One S so I could spoof it that way, but Windows requires Alternate MAC addresses to start with a 02.

Finally, I contacted Xbox support and they informed me that the Xbox One S does not support Alternate MAC Addresses. They noted my concern, but did not have a resolution.

I am now trying to figure out an alternate solution that does not require a hot spot service.

I am very disappointed as I bought the new Xbox One S so that I could use it when I travel.

 

This is both Xbox and your ISP fault, when your ISP does what ever they do to cause a lag spike (during peak times cause they just don't care about you) so good luck with that, and it's the consoles fault cause all they need a tiny update that will patch
connection, honestly lost all hope can't even play until this is fixed so i might return my Xbox and buy a Playstation and still have money left over, and this is a huge problems there are tons of youtube videos, and other forums on this site, still nothing
has been done. please fix this couple of my mates already play Sony, i'm seriously going to return this bro nearly 9 years with xbox sigh.

Sorry to hear about the issue with changing the wireless alternate mac on the Xbox One S console. This is an issue the proper teams are actively working on.

We've seen some users be able to use a temporary workaround like the one seen in this post, but if you don't currently have the option to do so. Rest assured that the proper teams are investigating and working on a solution.

 

As long as the EAP/802.1X process doesn't include a certificate for authentication, then there's nothing that hinders you from doing this in the reversed order. Instead of spoofing the MAC address of your computer (access client), spoof the address of your
Xbox one, making it so that your computer's hardware address is the one of your Xbox one's hardware address (make sure you select the MAC address of your primary connection type).

If you need to change the MAC address of your computer's wireless card, well, then there will be some more effort to put into this.

 

Or, you could simply share/bridge your computer's internet connection.

 

Hey all, there is a new console update that's going out now that should address this issue. Please check on your console for an update and let us know if it resolves the issue.

Head over to Settings > System > Console updates & info and Update Console.

after todays console update i can now manually change my xbox one s wireless Mac to get on my satellite cable internet , thanks xbox team and let me know guys if this update fixed your issue to
