Xbox one S (Gears of war 4 edition) playing new xbox games but not old ones makes a funny ...

The strangest thing is that it reads new games not problem example recently got Assassin's creed origins and that plays fine same with Call of duty WWII it just seems that all my older games just don't like it gonna keep testing things to see what happens

There was and issue sometime back with a batch of COD Ghost discs and Assassin's Creed Black flag I think. It's been awhile so I forget which games exactly but people were returning those games back to gamestop and then they were turning around and selling
those game discs again. Long story short, some of the discs were bad. Are any of the games on disc you're trying to play used games from gamestop?

No not as far as I know but that does make sense but surely it couldn't disrupt the disc drive or could it I'll keep trying more games to find out

It does sound like there's an issue with the disc drive.

I'm assuming you've done the following

- Hard Reset

- Cleaned the discs

- Uninstalled / Reinstalled the blu-ray app

- Plugged the xbox directly into a wall outlet

- Tried the Console Reset (the keep my games and apps) option

If all of that fails I'd say you're looking at a repair. You could try the Console Reset - Remove Everything option but the standard reset should do the same thing.

No not as far as I know but that does make sense but surely it couldn't disrupt the disc drive or could it I'll keep trying more games to find out

I'm thinking you might want to try and narrow down the issue if it's with the Xbox or with the disc.

Can you try your discs on another Xbox One?

If the issue follows the discs, then that narrows it down. If the issue doesn't occur elsewhere other than just your Xbox, it could be your disc drive then.
