XBox One S - Games play when disc installed but no Home screen

I turned my Xbox One S on yesterday for the first time in a few months, and it performed an update. While the update was downloading/installing I also inserted the disc for CoD WWII. I left the machine for several hours to perform the update and when I came
back it was on the open screen for CoD WWII. I played the game for a bit, but when I tried to return to the Home screen nothing happened. Hard and soft reboots both would return me straight to the CoD game, but no joy getting Home.

Removed the CoD disc, did soft and hard reboots, but never get the Home screen. On a hard boot it will show the XBox splash screen, say "Hello <name>" and then nothing. Pressing the Xbox Button on the controller does nothing.

I'm guessing something in the updates went wonky, is there a way to recover?

To install the Disc 2 content, insert the Disc after Disc 1 is installed and return to the Home screen on your Xbox One. Once you're on the Home screen, select the install disc and install the content. Once everything is installed continue playing the game
with Disc 2. Let us know how it goes.

 

Total system crash on Xbox One S while running a UHD 4K BluRay & no ATMOS or DTS X.

Dead pool UHD 4k disc does not play on the xbox one s. Goes back to home screen.

Can you please try using the console guide below and follow the option for "I need to update my console offline" when the Troubleshhoting screen loads I would initially try the option to Reset this Xbox and select the option to keep games and apps. If this
does not work please try again but this time using the offline update option and you can install the update from a USB drive.
