Xbox One S freezes for a few seconds during gameplay

Hello,

My Xbox One S has been freezing for a brief second on some games (namely the old Star Wars Battlefront 2 for original Xbox, Doom, Madden NFL 20, NHL 20 etc). It does not seem to affect gameplay much and the Xbox still runs perfectly except for that one second
freeze or frame rate drop (it depends on the game). I have tried running it on internal and external harddrives and the same thing pops up so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to whether it was caused by a software update or it's a harddrive failing
(which the latter seems kind of suspicious since its happening on two external harddrives and the internal). I've tried everything from hard resetting to holding down the power button to clearing my cache, and cleaning it for dust, but it does not solve the
problem. I believe it was working perfectly before the August update, but it would always freeze for five seconds of so on the EA version of Star Wars Battlefront 2 as of earlier this year (my original xbox one would always freeze for five seconds or so on
the EA Battlefront 2 and has the same problem with the one second freeze of games that this S does) but the EA forums suggested this was a problem unique to the EA version of Star Wars Battlefront 2. I'm kind of confused as to what it could besides a bug in
the software that runs games, as streaming movies and blu ray discs seem to perform flawlessly (it just seems to be with games that it does this) and my original xbox one does this as well. The S console is under a year old . So any thoughts/comments?

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support. The freezing of a certain game is generally related to the network which is why I will provide you with the official link to all the troubleshooting steps that can
help sort this out for you. Before going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned on the link I was referring to, I would like you to go through the following steps to clear your Mac address and perform a quick power cycle:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your
console.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500
(UDP).

So I'm not the only one that's experiencing this. It freezes for a few seconds then go back to normal This happens during cutscenes, and during gameplay. It happens every few minutes. It's pretty annoying, to the point that I've stopped playing the game.

I’m having similar issues with my series s. Mine is only 3 months old. No purple blotches with mine, just blocky graphics and jumpy with screen freezing for a half second or so during busy action gameplay.
