Xbox One S forgets its set as my home console on restart

Its a current bug with the Xbox One S - Do a restart of the console and you'll get the speed back. It's an issue with the Instant On setting

Let me see if I can explain it a little better for you.

No matter what console an account is signed into it will always be able to play its games and use its subscriptions.

Each account can set One console at a time as its home console and any other account that is on that console can then play its digital games and use its subscriptions with out the other account being signed in.

Each account can set One switch which console it has set as its home console 5 times a year.

So lets look at your situation.

You have

Console 1 = C1

Account 1 = A1 Your account

Console 2 = C2

Account 2 = A2 your sons account or any other account

Say A1 is the account that purchased the games and subscriptions.

In order for A2 to play any of those games and use the subscriptions whatever console that they want to play them on would have to be set as A1s home console.

So if A2 wants to play A1s games on C1 then C1 would have to be set as A1s Home console.

Or if A2 wants to play A1s games on C2 then C2 would have to be set as A1s home console.

Now keep in mind that you can only switch which console is set as home 5 times a year. The year starts from the first time you set a console as your home console.

So you would want to set one console that the other players would use the most as A1s Home console.

Now if the other accounts are wanting to play the games or use the subscriptions on another console that is not your accounts home console it is possible. I will give my setup as an example.

I have all the game purchases and subscriptions on my account.

I have a Xbox One S in my living room and a OG Xbox One in my bedroom.

The Xbox One S I have set as my home Xbox and if my wife wants to play some games or use subscription in the bedroom she would need to have my account signed in at the same time as her account is signed in on the OG Xbox since it is not my Home Xbox.

So basically my Wife would go in and sign into my account then switch accounts to her account and she would then be able to play my games and use my subscription under her account on the our non Home Xbox.

Yeah, that 'handshake' is not working. Go offline, be it manually or due to network trouble, and the Xbox forgets all about the subscription. Its moderately irritating, seeing it ask me to check my subscription, when I have already paid up for 12 months.

My console is set as the Home console. No one else uses it or shares this account. I'm the only gamer in the household.

Your information is not correct. Actually when you set the xbox one S console resolution to 4K UHD, everything on the console—Home, games, and apps—will display at 4K. 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like 1080p content)
is upscaled to 4K.
