XBOX ONE S fan AL. WA. YS. running. Always.

Hi, I am Antonino from Italy.

I got an XBOX One S a few months ago, the petroil-coloured one bundled with FIFA 17 dd.

I am not a new One user, I had an XBOX One before this one.

My older fat One rarely turned on the fans while doing anything, even the One S (a few firmware updates ago).

Now, even if I am browsing the web with Edge, or watching some streaming on Youtube or Netflix, the moment I turn on the console there is ALWAYS a fan running.

You will say "What's the problem? PC/console uses fans because of the heating".

Ok.

But that's not the ""problem"".

No matter the workloads, there is always one fan running even when being in the dashboard without anything running. Sometime I like browsing the web, taking a look at the sales on the Store, and there is ALWAYS this annoying fan running in background. I
mean, a few FW ago the console was TOTALLY muted. And it was REALLY COOL.

I know electronic things like these need fans because of the heat dissipation, I am not ignorant.

But sometime, late hours, I like relaxing and using my console as media center. It was really really muted a few updates ago, I do not know what MS did with the FWs about fan activation, but hey, my PS4 PRO, when being in the dashoboard, and also when playing
light games, is much more quiet than my One S. But you know, it should be the other way.

I really enjoyed my One S when it was super quiet when doing light task like web browsing or watching streaming videos.

It's not a loud fan noise, but I was used to a completely not existing noise. At all.

Is your XBOX One S like mine? Super quiet FWs ago and now louder than before?

I still use Your Shape. I know YS 2012 has push ups and sit ups now (including running). I also believe the Nike trainer also has similar features of YS 2012.

 

Xbox one hardrive always running and fan

No there's nothing wrong with the hardrive. I just don't understand why the operating system is stressing it and making it do stuff when it's in standby. Is this fixable with a update. I mean.... Windows 7 is the same with my laptop it can be just sitting
there running at desktop and not doing anything and u see the hardrive light flicking non stop. I just don't get why the windows is doing this on a damn gaming console

I have the same problem. It's gotten much worse over the last year. It's NOT clicking. No performance issues.

Just a super loud fan on CONSTANTLY.

Occasionally resetting the unit will stop the fan for a little while but it really doesn't go away which sucks because it's the hub of our media room. All tv and streaming go through this box.

It's well-ventilated and so is the power supply. I blow dust out of it frequently. in the internet offers no solution because anytime I try to search for the problem I am instead presented with the clicking noise issue which is discouraging. Any threads
I have found with this issue have little or no reply let alone the solution.

Any help is appreciated.
