Xbox One S fails playing Ultra HD Blu-ray

I purchased the new Xbox One S and connected it, with the included hdmi cable, directly to my Samsung UE65KS7005. The TV is set to allow 4K and HDR video and the Xbox is set to provide it. The xbox is also updated with the latest firmware. I've been playing
a couple of games and everything worked fine, but then I bought two Ultra HD Blu-ray movies (Deadpool and The Revenant, Nordic editions), and so the problem begins.

I started up trying to watch Deadpool. The Blu-ray app starts when I insert the disc, but after a while, no matter what I try, I get an 0x91d70000 or 0x91d70001 error message. So I moved over to the Revenant, and here everything starts as expected. But when
I start playing the movie, the image goes black and then resyncs with the TV every ten seconds (and the tv reports getting 4K HDR image every time it resyncs). This felt much like a packet drop issue, so I bought a new high speed HDMI cable. The result is
that the Revenant suddenly works perfectly, and Deadpool starts as it should, but then the moving image behind the menu freezes. Starting the movie the screen goes black and there is no sound, even though the time starts ticking.

Obviously there is a problem with an under qualified HDMI cable included in the box, but how do I solve the Deadpool playback issue? Is the Xbox One S just not good enough to play all 4k Ultra HD Blu-rays?

Try un-install/re-install of the blu-ray. First un-install it. then do a power cycle and hold the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then wait 15 seconds then turn back on, re-download the blur-ray app and try the app again.

 

Also try going over your tv settings again. I know with the Vizio P, you have to enable hdmi subsampling. There have also been talks that some UHD discs aren't working right because of the lack of a "standard" for HDR10.

 

Tried re-installing app and went through tv settings once again without finding anything wrong. Can't find any subsampling settings. Now I get the 0x91d70001 error when loading Deadpool again.

 

I believe this is a "known issue". Not quite sure if the right people at Microsoft knows about this though. This was one of the new features touted by Microsoft and has really failed so far with it. Others and myself have reported UHD playback issues with
Lucy, Oblivion, Eddie the Eagle, and Deadpool. It would be nice if Microsoft would speak up on this and make a bulletin or some form of communication for this deficiency so that the consumer is well aware that they know what is happening and that they are
actually working on a fix.

 

I have the same problem with the movie "Star Trek: Into Darkness". Same error as OP. Tried every possible combination of settings; nothing works. How can MS advertise this console as being capable of playing 4k Blu Rays when it obviously can't? How
is this not false advertising?

 

I've had the same exact problem and Nordic release as OP, although UltraHD should be region free so this shouldn't matter. Even tried two separate discs of the same movie and the error is the same. The discs work on other players, so naturally it's an Xbox
software issue. I agree with HotshotKingLou that some sort of communication about the fix would be nice. Heard all the useless "things to try" and everyone's tried them a hundred times but it just doesn't work. It'd be nice to know why before I toss that ***

It seems to be random throughout people's setup. I tried my Deadpool UHD later that day and it played like a champ. I know other people who have the Vizio P and are on the AVS Forums have reported Deadpool to be iffy and that Lucy and Oblivion are 50/50
to work.

 

Sure, it is random but I'd say it's safe to conclude that when trying same discs on another UHD player with the same setup and the discs work, that the problem is with the Xbox One S/Blu-Ray application.

 

The only UHD disc I have is Batman v Superman. I tried UHD and was so excited for it...and it would throw out two different errors. It was giving the 0x91d7000a error and also an error that the disc stopped and that the Xbox One S couldn't recognize it.

I tried the regular BLU RAY version of Batman v Superman that works on my original Xbox One...doesn't work, either.

I contacted chat support and phone support and was informed to wait on an "update" and to check xbox.com for updates. I'd really like some communication from Microsoft regarding this issue so that I know it's in the right hands and that it is getting resolved.

 

After troubleshooting some more last night I was able to successfully get blu ray discs and 4k blu ray discs by changing the resolution in settings to 1080p and then back to 4k. I believe this forced the "handshake" which got rid of my HDCP error that I
was getting. (Error 0x91d7000a)

Just wanted to pass this along. Curious if this resolves the issue for others!

 

I am having a similar issue. My xbox one s and tv support all video functions, and when gaming or in the menus, my tv shows that the output is in 4k. As soon as I load up Deadpool 4k blu-ray, my tv shows that the output is 1080p.. Any ideas?

Is any one having a complete signal loss every 15 to 20 mins? It happens when using blu ray player , when watching cable, and Netflix . signal drops out comes back immediately but no sound.. If disconnect and reconnect hdmi everything is fine for another
15 to 20 mins ...then does it again
