    Xbox one s failing to read disc games randomly


    If I leave a disc in my Xbox one and turn it off and then turn it back on later the disc will not show up and no discs are able to be read after that. The only way I can get it to read discs if that happens is to hard reset it which is very annoying. Is
    anyone else having this issue? My first One S had this problem so I returned it to the store only to get a 2ND brand new one with the exact same issue.

    Xbox 360 games not working

    At first, no compatible xbox 360 games were working, i even tried like 4 different games. I read somewhere to try DVD's and wallah they dont work either. The thing is, my xbox one reads xbox one games just fine, but when it comes to 360 discs or movies,
    its a no go, i get a disc read error. Does this mean my disc drive is failing? and What can i do to fix it?

    For it to work properly I must eject the disc (that doesn't show up on the menu) and hard reset it which means I am not able to leave any discs in my disc drive when I turn the Xbox off for later use.

    Same issue occurred to me, the difference is mine couldn't read any discs....getting my second console via Wal-Mart now.

    Hi,

    To put it simply, the Blu-ray drive has two laser's built into the drive. One for reading DVD discs and the other to read Blu-ray discs. Xbox 360 games and DVD films use the DVD disc format, while Xbox One and Series X|S discs use Blu-ray discs. If one or the other lasers fail, the console will be able to read one format but not the other.

    This isn't something you can fix yourself. You would either need a new console or get your console repaired. Note however that the original Xbox One is no longer supported for repairs from Microsoft.

    Hi,

    Unfortunately it sounds to me like your Optical drive has developed a fault. There are two lasers in the drive assembly, one for reading Xbox 360 games and movie DVD discs and one for reading Xbox One and Blu-ray discs.

    To see if your drive is failing, try playing regular DVD movie discs (not an HD movie discs as these are on Blu-ray format). If the DVD films fail to play then your drive is faulty and you'll need to send the machine to have this repaired.

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD discs.
