Xbox one S external storage and xbox questions

I am thinking of buying a xbox one s console and selling my current xbox one but I have a few questions.

1.Does the xbox one s support external storage with USB 3.0?

2.I have a digital game on my current xbox one so is it linked to gamertag so I may download on new xbox?

3.If I were to sell my xbox one with original box will serial number and what not.Will it be linked to my gamer tag?

Xbox difference

Hi there,

the difference between a regular Xbox One s and a Xbox One S 1TB will be that the 1TB version will have a 1tb storage device and not a 500GB storage device.

So the 1TB which is about 1000GB will have approx. twice the storage amount compared to the 500GB version.

Keep in mind that if needed the storage space can be expanded by connecting an external storage device (USB 3.0 and at least 256GB) to expand the available storage on any Xbox One console.

Xbox One "Unlikely to support external storage at launch"

"The future plan is definitely to support external storage," says Major Nelson

Xbox Live director of programming Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb said on his latest podcast: "The Xbox One will ship with a 500GB hard drive, all of them have that. The future plan is definitely to support external storage, much like we do on the Xbox 360. My understanding is that feature will not be there at launch because the team's working on some other things, but it's definitely on the list, I don't know when it'll come in though."

Xbox One head of product planning Albert Penello said in May that the console will have a non-removable 500GB hard drive. External storage solutions will be used through the console's USB 3.0 port.Click to expand...

The answer to the first two questions is a simple yes.

For the 3rd question, if you remove your account from the console, set your new console as the home console, the gamertag should no longer linked to it.

Also if you do sell your Xbox one make sure to factory reset it just to be sure.

Hey Jellybean! The first 2 answers are yes. For the 3rd question the answer is everything is linkes to your gamertag so if you were to see or trade in your xbox make sure to delete everything off that console. When you sign in on your new console and download
your profile all of your content will show up and it will be ready to use.

If external that would be why

You can only put it in an internal memory or storage card

Now I'd you are saying you have a Xbox one S

That isn't a series s

Series consoles.are different and are not considered Xbox one nor is it part of the name

Also any games.that are meant for the series consoles has to be on storage card or.internal memory

Xbox one games works regardless of Xbox one s or og or one x

And you can use any storage

But for Xbox series consoles there is only s or x not one s/x

And only games on optimized nvme or the Xbox nvme storage card will download the series version

If you put it on external it would only download the Xbox one as you arent running thr optimized nvme

The best option for additional storage for an Xbox One S console is an external hard drive.

There are a couple of requirements that the external hard drive must meet in order to work with the Xbox One S:

- It must have a USB 3.0 connection or higher.

- It must have a minimum capacity of 128 GB. The maximum size that the console detects is up to 16TB.

As long as these requirements are met, any external hard drive will work with the console.

An external hard drive used on the One will work for the Series S/X, but won't have the exact same performance as the one created for the Series S/X.
