    Xbox One S - External Hard Drives no longer recognized


    Hi All,

    Prior to the latest update (maybe 2 weeks ago?) I had 2 external hard drives (both 5 TB drives) that I used for movies, old TV shows, pictures and the like. One was NTFS formatted and the other exFAT, and both worked fine for years, showing up in the Storage menu and notifying me with a popup when I plugged them in.

    However, after the update, the Xbox will not even recognize the drives. However, when I plug in a FAT32-formatted USB drive, the files come up just fine. Also, when I plug both external drives into my home computer (Win10), both drives come up as if nothing ever changed.

    I reset my console after the latest update as well, but still they are not recognized. I also installed a couple of backwards-compatible Xbox 360 games onto the internal hard drive as well, but I don't see how that would have broken anything.

    Is this a recognized issue after the latest update? Is there any way to fix this without reformatting the hard drives?

    Is it possible that your Xbox One is no longer recognizing your external hard drive. If your games are installed on that drive, then that would be why they are now in the ready to install section.

    I've just finished downloading/installing the newest system update for xbox one. The xbox now no longer recognizes my external hard drive. I have tried numerous times restarting the system, as well as unplugging/replugging in the external hard drive.
