    Xbox One S External Hard Drive Issues


    Hello all, please forgive me since this is the first time I have ever posted to a forum ever but I have completely run out of ideas. So I have an almost brand new Seagate 4 TB external hard drive for my xbox one S. It's the little green one. I plugged it
    into my xbox and formatted it properly and then proceeded to install all 76 of my online games that I have purchased or acquired from the xbox gold benefits. Then I began to download my disk games. There were 24 of them. I was able to get to the very last
    disk game and all of a sudden my xbox quit recognizing the drive. It did this to me on my 3TB Seagate I had previously that I thought was not functional anymore. Thus the purchase of a new drive. I have tried restarting the xbox, different USB ports, and different
    cables. I am using my laptop to reformat my old drive to see if I can get it to work again. Now a note here is that my internet is slow so it took almost 2 weeks to download all the games to the new drive and I had unchecked the settings box that shuts down
    storage when the console is off. Please if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

    External Hard Drives: De-Formatting From Xbox One

    I am going to tell you how to remove the formatting on a External Hard Drive from a Xbox One.

    Requirements:

    Xbox 360

    1. Insert external hard drive into Xbox 360

    2. Go into System

    3. Go into Storage

    4. Press 'Y' on External Hard Drive (Will be called "unformatted device")

    5. Click on Format

    6. The External Hard Drive will now contain the Xbox 360's formatting.

    7. If you do not want the Xbox 360's formatting on the External Hard Drive, all you need to do is format the External Hard Drive on a computer. Otherwise, if you don't care that the Xbox 360's formatting is on the External Hard Drive, then ignore this step.

    Hope This Helped Anyone Who Did Not Know How To Remove An Xbox One's Formatting From An External Hard Drive!

    Hi, you shouldn't have any issues using that external hard drive with the Xbox S, your files should be fine.

    Ive had an original xbox one for a while and just upgraded to the S. My issue is that i have an external 1TB hard drive that goes in the side id the xbox, is there any way i can transfer all my games to the S without having to download them all
    individually? I do not think the original xbox’s external hard drive can mount to the S.
    You can move your games to the external if they fit and just plug it in to the s on the back

    you can either delete content, or you can use an external USB hard drive to get additional storage. I personally have a 3TB external drive to avoid this issue.
