Xbox One s dull picture output

Hi,

I purchased a one s a couple of days ago & am having some issues with picture quality...in that it's very dull & washes out.

This occurs in gaming & video play back. On the one s 4K section for video output I have all option marked green, so no issues there. I've ran the calibration several times & have one issue I've found which is the closed black eye, I can just about see
it (really having to stare at it) until I switch the hdmi black level to low, Then it'll be more visible. I'll complete the rest of the steps but when I fire a game up...eg FIFA as it has a decent lcolour pallette I'll have alter settings due to the output
looking washed out.

I've loaded Netflix & steamed some 4K content with the native app & pictures playback is fantastic, when I then jump to the one s Netflix app & play the same content the difference is reallly noticeable. Dull, washed out, lack of detail. Even my original
Xbox one in hd playing the same content looks better.

I've searched & this seems to be an issue but it is for me anyway a deal breaker. I just cannot except this is "just how it is" so I'm on the brink of returning the one s.

I'm using a Newley released Samsung UE55MU6400 55". I've ran game mode, sharpness down to zero, backlight maxed ect so I'm at a loss what to try next.....anyone?

Hdr washed out colors and dimmer during hdr content

I have the same issue, I have a Vizio P75C1 and the picture is dull and lifeless when hdr is on and hdr content is being played. Is this a hardware issue or just a firmware update is needed from the xbox one?

Does anyone have an xbox one s and a samsung UHD player? with hdr turn on with both? is the xbox one s the only one with hdr10 dullness issues?

Ive tried every setting there is and nothing improves the dull color when hdr10 is active. With hdr10 off the picture looks incredible.

 

Xbox One S and Sonos dd5.1

I have sonos 5.1 in my front room and this worked fine with my Original Xbox One using bitstream output. But now with my new Xbox One S I can't get any audio output when setting the xbox to output over bitstream.

Any indication when and if this will be supported/enabled on the Xbox One S?

Having a bit of trouble understanding your issue. Is there any chance you can get us a picture of your Television screen so we can better understand what you're seeing? Also, can you share the display settings you have set on your Xbox One? Thanks

 

I think it's pretty clear the issue I'm having with what I posted.

 

From a descriptive stand point, sure, but we're still interested in seeing the difference in color quality. If you can take a moment to get that picture it would definitely be appreciated and assist with troubleshooting your issue.

Also, if you have a different TV, definitely give that a test to see if the picture dulls there, as this definitely sounds like a setting with your current setup.
