XBox One S drops audio for 1 to 2 seconds and returns

My XBox One S is connected via HDMI to my 4K Vizio 65" television, HDMI-1. The audio leads out from the back of the television via optical cable to the Vizio 5.1 Sound Bar in front of the television.

95% of the time I can play games and not have the audio drop out. Periodically it will happen and you are met with silence for about two seconds before it returns again like nothing happen. This happened just last night as my wife and I were playing some
Rock Band 4. It hadn't happened all afternoon as I played Vermentide 2 and World of Warships. It dropped on Friday night (I'm taking notes) while I was playing Dragon Age Inquisition. Again, approximately 1 to 2 seconds and the audio returns. Nothing
happened on Saturday during gaming sessions.

It has not happened watching Netflix, Hulu, or BluRay. It simply is a game related occurrence.

I also do not see a correlation between the game title and the drop out. It seems perfectly random.

My wife wonders if there is something wrong with my XBox and rolls her eyes thinking a new purchase is in my future. I don't think there is some wrong with the output on the XBox One S. Is it possibly a setting I need to adjust?

Thanks for the quick reply Onyx. I will also go shopping and get a new optical cable. This one is pretty long in the tooth and it may not hurt to get something newer.

It is quite possible that the issue is not with the console but with the TV, sound bar or the optical cable. Please try connecting the sound bar to the console while you play and see if you still have the same results. You can connect using the same optical
cable that is leading to the TV.

In the meantime try powercycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down to see if that helps.

Thanks for the update on the issue. I understand there is an issue with the audio performance from the connection using a sound bar, Xbox, and TV.

I bought the XO Sevens and had two issues. 1 was audio drops all the time from the game sound, and 2 was the entire controller froze, but the game kept going. I had ti manually turn off the Xbox One. I returned the headphones because of these issues. The
audio was terrible and very buggy.

UPDATE: Xbox One S returned. No solution for audio sync issue on DVD/Blu-ray playback.

After scouring the internet I cannot find a solution. The Xbox Support seems to be correct. There was an issue with the Xbox One S where the audio was not in sync with the video on DVD and Blu-ray playback. I returned the Xbox One S.

Hopefully few other experience the issue.
