Xbox One S don't turn off completely even when on Power Saving mode

Hello, there!

I have a strange problem with my newly bought Xbox One S.

When i unplug it from the socket, even when console turned off (with Power Saving mode on), there is a sound, like those when you unintentionally unplug your PC when it's not completely off.

What is this and why does it happens?

I thought that in Power Saver console should completely shut down when you turn it off through gamepad.

Xbox One making noise while off

Hi, it's possible your power settings are set to instant on. When that is on the Xbox is only in standby mode, so the fan will still move and sometimes may make a noise. If you don't want that, then change the power setting to power saving mode, and that
will completely turn the Xbox off.

 

Switching OFF xboxe one problem

Hi sorry if i posted it to the wrong category. I just have a little problem. I have my xbox one s set to energy saving not to the stand by mode. But somethings when I switch off my xbox and then when i switch it on it starts up straight away to the xbox
menu like it was on the stand by mode and rememberd the last section. I don't know why such a thing happens. I switched off my xbox through the controller then switched it on using the console button and it was straight on the menu it wasn't switching on properly.
Sometimes i turn off the plug in power on the wall specially at night when i go to sleep, so i don't want to have my xbox turning off like a cut off power because even if i switch it off it stills on like the stand by mode... I need to add that it doesnt'
happens often, i preferred xbox 360 turning off way, once you pressed the button it was off.

Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist, it sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the console not shutting down properly. What I recommend doing is to
perform a power cycle on the console. As well how is your console connected to a surge protector? Please let us know.

Hey there, the console usually takes a while to end some operations before turning it off completely.

Some times the fan just keeps spinning in order to cool down the console.

There are some cases where your xbox is downloading updates or your HDD is working in the background so you hear a small mechanical noise.

It's nothing power-consuming so no need to worry about it

I'll try to power cycle my console and let you know if it solved the problem. Though i bought absolutely new console just a few days ago and this problem started from the very beginning(

What do you mean by surge protector? I don't have any UPS or something like this. I tried to connect it through a simple extension cord and directly through the socket, with same results.

I always waited for fans to stop spinning before unplug console. Also, i'm sure there was no updates, cause i just bought a console and all updates were installed on the first set up.

Though there always were unfinished downloads at the time console was shut down, may it be a problem? But as i know downloads can continue only in Instant On mode, not in Power Saver mode, am i right?

Can you try pressing and holding the power button on the front of the console for at least 10 seconds or until the white light turns off under your finger. Then check to see if it continues to make sounds while off. Let us know with a reply how it goes
