    Xbox One S disc drive


    I literally just got my Xbox One back from Microsoft. The disc drive stopped reading discs so I sent it in to get fixed. I have a 500 GB Xbox so our local Microsoft stores can't replace it because they stopped carrying 500 GB. Anyways, we tried to insert
    a DVD and now the console won't even accept the disc at all. I am livid. I do not want to have to send my Xbox in again to get fixed as I had to wait 2 weeks to get it back. What should I do?

    You've probably heard that the disc drive for the Xbox One was considered non-existent one time for the design by Microsoft, making it a digital-only device. But thanks to this article I saw, it's still there.

    Try pressing the eject button to make sure that there isn't a disc (from the repair center?!) in it already..

    Hello!

    I would try the basic troubleshooting, hard reset, making sure there's no disc in drive currently, etc. If it is in fact defective I would definitely reach out to Xbox customer service to see what they can do. If it needs another repair they should be able
    to at least expedite the shipping and repair.

    We definitely tried everything we could. We pressed the eject button, nothing came out! I will definitely reach out to Xbox and see what we can do. Thank you!

    Best off to register it for another repair through the online service and warranty centre if none of the troubleshooting techniques worked.

    That is correct! The next generation of Xbox One S wont feature a disc drive. While other Xbox One S with disc drives will be available.

    Xbox One Series S - I'm confused

    You have names mixed up. There are no consoles named the Xbox One Series S or Xbox One Series X.

    The Xbox One/One S/One X all have a disc drive.

    The Xbox One S All Digital Edition does not have a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series X has a disc drive.

    The Xbox Series S does not have a disc drive.

    All the consoles can play backward compatible games. The Series S and One S all digital edition can only play games digitally downloaded.

    The other consoles can play games from disc and from digitally downloaded,

    I hope this clears things up for you.

    Disc games to digital ASAP

    You would only need to do this if you purchase the All digital Xbox One S that has no disc drive. If you purchase an Xbox One S or X with a disc drive they can still be used there. But there is no way to convert disc games to digital versions.

    If you are able to put a disc in, you have an Xbox One S, not a series S. A Series S has no disc drive. The game is not compatible.
