XBox one S disc drive problems - and support sucks!

Xbox one s has developed common problem and won’t play any discs. Tried everything I could find on YouTube from restoring to slightly tilting when inserting discs and nothing has worked.

    2 options from Microsoft

    1) Replace it with a console that might not be new. MS take £250 out of my account until they receive the broken Xbox.

    2) send the broken console in for repair and wait for it to come back.

It’s Christmas so the £250 out of my account is a problem. So I have to go with cheaper option and be without Xbox for Christmas.

Either way means no Xbox over Christmas for me and my kids.

Xbox lets me down at the holidays. Goodbye MS, hello Nathan Drake.

    :)

    Xbox One Hardware Problems Update

    *2006-5d8e5f5ae177f0882f2dbf4780e32db8.jpg*

There's more news incoming about the hardware problems of the Xbox One.

According to IBTIMES, the disc drive problems that's been affecting a small number of XB1 owners seems to be more common than previously believed. The problem's increasing and now, reports have come in that some owners are suffering long installation times. As IBTIMES says:

I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a very big problem for everybody, especially for those who are about to buy an Xbox One. A million-sold consoles is nice for me but hearing these problems is beginning to diminish my desires for an Xbox One. I am hopeful Microsoft can solve this one, and hopefully, the Xbox One can succeed. I'm happy, of course, that many of you here at the forums are reporting that your console is working swiftly. Good to know.

  4. XBox one S disc drive problems - and support sucks!

    Sad story.

#1. One thing to investigate - ask support - does it support external bluray drive?

If you can do without UHD media - that would be £50 or so.

It does support external hdd, and web cameras - so maybe that is an option.

#2, Any experience with basic handling of internals of computer - or a friend that does - check model of drive and buy separately and replace.

#3. Buy a second xbox, maybe a launch one - new or used and use a spare part unit - and do installs on external hdd

If you don't need to use as media player.

Just a few things I would investigate....

Self repair is a severe violation of the ToU/CoC & the quickest way to get your console banned.

An external Blu-ray drive will not work.

@ shungle,i'm in the U.K. as well & have had to send in many consoles over the years & in my experience it's never taken longer than 7 working days.

You do realise that Playstations break as well right?

I'm one of the biggest critics of xbox support but not sure how this is their fault in this case.

Xbox next generation console no disk drive

That is correct! The next generation of Xbox One S wont feature a disc drive. While other Xbox One S with disc drives will be available.
