  1. Xbox One S Controller Will Not Automatically Reconnect to PC via Bluetooth After Using a Wired ...

    Hi everyone. My issue is hopefully somewhat succinctly described in the thread title. My controller won't automatically reconnect to my PC via Bluetooth when I've disconnected it from a wired micro USB connection, even after powering off (by holding the
    center button for ~ 10 seconds,) and then powering back on the controller.

    TL;DR: The controller won't reconnect via Bluetooth automatically after being disconnected from a wired connection. Is this a flaw or feature?

    My guess is that this may be a bug or issue with the firmware. If I power off the controller while connected to Bluetooth, I can power it back on and have it automatically reconnect without having to go through the pairing process again.

    I've consistently encountered the issue when repeating the following steps:

    1. Pair the controller from PC Settings>Bluetooth after powering on the controller and holding the sync button for 3 seconds, the controller is now usable in Windows;
    2. Power off the controller by holding the center button for about 10 seconds;
    3. Connect the controller to a micro USB cable connected to the PC while the controller is off, the micro USB will cause the controller to vibrate and power on, at this point the controller is usable in Windows and can be updated via Xbox Accessories;
    4. Disconnect the controller from the micro USB cable and power off the controller by holding the center button for about 10 seconds;
    5. Power back on the controller by pressing the center button, the center light flashes slowly as it does before the controller is synced to a PC or console;
    6. The controller will not reconnect to Windows via Bluetooth automatically.
    I started experiencing this issue when I plugged in my controller to charge because the controller wouldn't automatically reconnect to my PC once I unplugged it.. I bought the Play and Charge kit with my controller (purely to avoid the annoyance of buying
    and replacing AA batteries,) but avoiding their annoyance has ironically introduced this one.

    Let me know what you think, or if there is a solution.

    :)

    One bluetooth controller Windows 10 re-pair often

    If I plug the controller in to my PC to charge or use as a wired controller, and then unplug the wire, the controller doesn't re-sync with bluetooth even though it's already paired. I have to remove it from bluetooth profile and re-add it.

    Anyone else have this issue? If I unplug it from the wire, it should automatically reconnect to my PC via bluetooth just as it does with the Xbox One.

    Any ideas?

    Was it the official Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller? For the Xbox 360 wireless controller, an adapter is required. For Xbox One, the original Xbox One controller will only work when wired. For the One S controller, you can connect it via bluetooth.

  5. Actually, because I'm using Bluetooth for the controller (as opposed to the wireless dongles most people here seem to be using,) update 1607 was necessary to allow me to connect the controller. That being said, (and take this with a grain of salt, see below,)
    I did have to update the firmware on the controller which I didn't previously realize. However, the issue still persists regardless of the firmware version.

    I have additionally noticed after the firmware update the the controller's name in the Bluetooth settings menu now appears differently, and the controller, as a device to pair with, will actually disappear after connecting it to a computer with Xbox Accessories
    installed, which makes me think that the app recognizes when a controller is connected, and will remove the corresponding controller from Bluetooth settings as a device that can be reconnected to without repeating the pairing process. That said, it then makes
    sense that this is a feature, and not a flaw. However, it would still be nice if it could be such that one doesn't have to repair the controller every time it is plugged in.

    ...is there anyone from Microsoft/Xbox that can chime in? Is it supposed to be that one has to repair the controller in order to use it again after disconnecting a wired connection with it?

    Also, and not to hijack my own thread, is the controller supposed to turn off if you hit it (briskly, like a friendly-not-friendly punch sort of force) from the left or right side approximately the same height up the device as the left stick? My controller
    shuts off, and I again don't know if this is supposed to be a feature to protect it from damage, or an issue I caused by dropping it, (when I realized the issue the first time.) What is more likely is that this is simply a limitation of that hardware used
    to build the things, though I'm hesitant to assume as much because I would assume that these controllers take a beating from over-excited gamers.

  7. Has anyone actually have a the new white Wireless S controller working as expected over bluetooth?

    I am experiencing a number of issues. Last firmware update: 3.1.1215.0 and windows 10 has all latest update.

    On first connection via USB windows alerts a Runtime error like this:

    When I do manage to get a good bluetooth connection, the controller is unresponsive, and button mappings all over the place.

    Very poor support.

    I've actually just ignored this issue. While it's annoying that it won't reconnect, I'm able to manage just by resyncing it.

    And yeah, I've had no issues, actually. My buttons are mapped correctly and they work fine in all games.

    I have been having this problem for months, ever since I purchased my Xbox One Wireless Controller. My only solution is to connect it to the PC with a regular USB cable so that Windows would not recognize it.

    Hopefully a fix will be released.

    Same issue here, when I bought the controller I didn't have this problem, but after some update ( firmware or os update ) I need to re-pair bluetooth everytime, after I unplug usb cable.

    adapter lets you connect and should stay connected if you use USB and then go back to the adapter.
    Thank you, this is important info, so xbox wireless controller adapter doesn't have this problem.

    > Do you by any chance have any other BT capable devices to test and see if it's with the dongle or the controller's BT connection?

    I do, but any other device can not be connected through USB, so I can not test this specific problem.

    I have this bluetooth dongle now, Atheros AR3011, it is bluetooth 3.0.

    Do you have any other bluetooth dongles at hand, eg bluetooth 4.0, 4.1, ... to test this problem?

    I don't have any other bluetooth dongles at hand.

    Would be good to test this problem with other bluetooth dongles, if it is general problem or if this problem exist only with specific bluetooth dongles, eg lower bluetooth protocol versions.

    Thank you for your responses.
