Xbox One S Controller Triggers Working Intermittently

Both of my Xbox One S controllers work intermittently. For example, if you're playing Forza, you may start up the game and trigger back 100% will equal throttle 100%. After playing for a various amounts of time, this will change. All of a sudden, trigger
back 100% will give you between 20-60% throttle. There was no change to the controller or the console, it just suddenly wont work like it should. Batteries are fine, checked them with a voltmeter. I did install the new firmware, but that made my problem worse.

Similar situation here as well. The rumble feature on the right trigger of my day one controller is REALLY loud and only works intermittently, my other standard controller works fine.

I've just finished chatting with a support representative who after some confusion told me that I have to shoulder the expense of packing and shipping to the Czech republic! That's going to cost me 1/2 the cost of a new controller. There's also no guarantee
that I'll get a day one edition controller back.

Impulse Trigger doesn't work on xbox one controller whole world knows that, but it should work on new xbox one s controller, Microsoft should give us some resolution on this we have already paid high price.

we are not worried about battery consumption just give us the feature Microsoft promised on this new controller.

As an update to this and for anyone else searching the forums in future with a similar issue, this is what I've found:

I borrowed a virtually brand new spare controller from a friend and used it all weekend without any recurrence of the intermittent sound issue I'd been experiencing. Switching back to my own controller caused the problem to return. The only conclusion therefore
is that the problem is with the controller.

Knowing this I did some searches that returned results that highlighted a problem with the xbox one s controller, specifically the headphone jack housing that can work loose from its pcb connections that can cause intermittent sound issues. This is a known
and documented problem with these controllers.

Given the xbox is still under its year warranty, I will now look to return the controller for a replacement.

Do the triggers work when you test them in Windows?

In Windows 8.1 search for your controllers by typing in USB in the search box. Select 'Set up USB Game Controllers'. In the next window, click on the 'Properties' button. Pressing the triggers should show the Z Axis going up and down - depending on what trigger
is pressed. If the Z Axis does not move, there is something wrong with your controller.

Whether the triggers will work in your game, depends on whether the game you are playing supports the triggers or not. Games that support the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controller natively will support the triggers, other games may not.
