  1. Xbox One S controller port difference

    Hi,

Back in December I bought an Xbox One S that came bundled with a couple games and an extra controller, all good. Recently I bought the official xbox one Chatpad, and noticed it would not physically fit into the controller, no matter how much pushing and wiggling.
I unboxed the extra official controller, for which the Chatpad connected no problem.

I took a closer look at the ports and noticed a slight difference in the width of the pin ports.

    to clarify:

    - all the items are official xbox hardware.

    - xbox controller that came included in the same box as the console does not connect with the Chatpad.

The electronic store I purchased it from is refusing responsibility for replacement, let alone the return period has passed.

I'm now stuck with an official xbox one s controller that does not accept any plugin add ons.

Is there anything you can do to help me here?

Thank you for any assistance here.

    :)

    Hey there!

Yes, there is a difference between the Xbox One controller and the Xbox One S controllers. As you've mentioned, the Xbox One S controllers have Bluetooth capability whereas the original series does not. You can sort of tell the difference when you look at
the controller itself. If the area around the Xbox guide button matches the controller, it likely is a Bluetooth capable controller vs an original one. A good example is the difference between the

    Lunar White Controller
(non-Bluetooth capable) and the new white
    Xbox One Controller
(Bluetooth capable). You can see the difference in the controller around the guide button. If you see a controller in the store that you like, you can always check on the web to see if it has Bluetooth or not.

Let us know if you have any other questions. Xbox One S controller port difference :)

I sometimes have (slight) trouble connecting my accessories too.

I have the 2TB launch edition of the Xbox One S from August 2016. At certain, precise angles, I'm able to successfully plug in the headset connector. It's been like that since the first plug-in. It was able to be connected easier when I had
the original Xbox One controller (before I upgraded consoles). The port on mine is a little bit of the middle ground between your first and second picture, likely due to a little wear from me trying to plug in the chat headset connector. Have you also checked
the male connector on the accessory as well?

I'm thinking it's all probably a minor manufacture defect on the controller's female connector or the accessory's male connector, probably with imprecise metal molding, but I'm just spitballing here.

If it's still 90 days within the purchase date of your console, your controller should still be covered in warranty for repairs/replacement. It's registered with your console's serial number. Just
schedule a repair, follow the questions, and see what your options are.

Play and Charge Kit Unsure why mine wont light up.

Yesterday I purchased a Play and Charge Kit, the doco mentioned a LED on the controller Connection. When I plug it into the Front port of the XBOX One S it flashes once orange and goes out. The controller does vibrate. I presumed the was a fault,
so I took it back to the store, along with my controller, as soon as they plugged it into their XBOX One s It worked fine. I Took it back home and same issue.

As the Controller and Charge pack work fine on another XBOX One S, do I have a faulty unit ????
    Hello PhillipWard1,

    • Try a different cable

    • Plug the cable into the back of the xbox

    • Check the usb port on the xbox and see if another controller will work with same setup
