Xbox One S Controller No Audio

Here's a doozy I haven't been able to find an answer to online yet:

So, I have two Xbox One s controllers, both worked fine and dandy UNTIL I used one of them on my pc with my headset (wired by USB, 3.5mm jack for headset). Then all of the sudden whenever I tried to use the same controller on my Xbox the controller wouldn't
send audio through the headset anymore.

I used my other controller for a bit and then mistakenly used that controller on the pc as well. I now have two controller that won't send audio through the headset.

- I have updated firmware for controllers via Xbox

- I have made sure HDMI is selected in video settings on Xbox

- I made sure to select stereo uncompressed in audio settings

- I run Windows 10 on my pc

- headphones have been tested and work fine

- controllers have no other issues

- 3.5 mm jack is clean AND when I plug in my headset I can tell the mic is working

I believe this to be some sort of driver/firmware issue but I can't find anyone having the same problem. I am so lost. HELP!

Xbox One S Controller on PC - horrible audio quality

I've bought Xbox One S Controller for BT connection and audio jack port.

When I connect it wireless - controleller works fine, but audio quality is HORRIBLE.

When I connect it wired - audio is ok.

Windows 10 see this controller as a Hands-Free Headset and there is no option to set better quality than 16 bit 8000Hz (phone quality).

Audio Issues on XBox One S when listening via Controller/Headset

Just bought an xbox one S and have noticed consistent, periodic sound issues.

Setup:

- Xbox one S

- Controllers: Elite Controller (used previously on another xbox with no issues), white xbox one S controller

- Sound via Turtle Beach headset (used previously on another xbox with no issues)

Issues:

- Game audio (and likely other apps such as netflix) are crackly and "break-up" for durations

- When this occurs, people in my party say that my game chat is also crackly and broken

- This does not happen all the time, but when the xbox gets in this state, it will last for 10s of minutes if not longer. But there are also times when there are no audio issues for hours.

- When the issue occurs, I can connect my other controller and a backup headphone with the issue still being present. So I do not think it is a controller or headset issue.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi there!

That is an interesting situation for sure.

If you unplug the controller, pull out any batteries, and let the controller sit for about 15 mins.

Then using a USB cable connect the controller to the console and power it back on.

Does the controller still show the same symptoms?

they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)

Thank you for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with audio on your Xbox One. Besides HDMI and using the Xbox One Controller for audio, the Xbox One supports S/PDIF Optical audio output. For more information, check out this article:

Every controller since my first (1 with audio jack, one XBO S, one XBO X) hasn't worked, so it's not the controllers themselves.

Same here, the same problem even with full charge. I tried with stylus batteries and also with the play&charge kit, using the Xbox One X black controller included with the console and also an Xbox One S controller (the white one with Bluetooth and audio
jack).

There is also.the bumper.rocker as I found out when my controller took a dive into a lake of shrimp soup

And you forgot the audio jack

OG xbox one controllers required the 3.5 adapter with volume buttons on it

Newer ones directly connect 3.5mm audio jacks and no audio controls needed on the controller it would be your headset

@op you have to look at the manufacturing date

You cant buy og controllers anymore new anyways

You don't see any differences on the box with the exxeption of series controllers which have the share button they still work on xbox ones though

But like smwutches said you can't buy a xbox one s controller they aren't named that way you just have to read the box to confirm if it has Bluetooth or not for the newer ones or the share button on the series controllers
