  1. Xbox One-S Controller left stick drifting..unusable

I recently bought the Battlefield 1 package version of the Xbox One-S, and the left stick of the controller that came with it is now drifting really bad, making the controller unusable.

I thought it was something physical with the controller until about a week later my other, older Xbox One "Day One 2013" controller started doing it too. Thinking it wasn't a coincidence, I looked online and found other incidents of this, learning it could
    be an update issue.

I followed the instructions given to others in the thread with the same problem:

    1) I made sure all controllers were updated first (said each one had latest update already, but updated them again just to be sure).

    2) Then I held the Xbox One power button for 10 seconds, to shut everything down.

    3) Then I unplugged the Xbox One power cord, and left it unplugged for 5 minutes.

    4) Then plugged it back in, and powered on.

    5) One thing I read said to sync the controllers back to the Xbox One again. They didn't seem to need this, but I tried anyway.

The "Day One" controller seems to have been fixed. I only noticed drift once or twice for a brief second, but now have a hard time replicating it. Definitely better than it was.

The newer, Battlefield 1 controller however is as bad as ever. Which is too bad because it was my favorite one as far as texture and the way it feels with gameplay. It drifts nonstop through menus and there is no way to even select an option. How do I fix
    this?

    :)

    Controller analogue drift

Same has happened to both of my controllers. One on the left stick, one on the right. Both think they're being pushed slightly forward, and then once I move them they're ok again for a while.

I've tried resetting and re-syncing them etc. Not sure if it's a controller or console issue.

Did you do anything about yours?

    Hey there, COWBELL!

I'm sorry to see any stick drift issues on the controller. Unfortunately, after doing all the troubleshooting you've done, this means that the controller needs to be replaced. If you bought the console within the last 90 days, the controller is still under
warranty (some European countries have a 1 year warranty for accessories, though). Please reach out to our phone or chat teams via our
Contact Us page to set up a replacement controller.

Please keep me updated on the situation! I'm happy to help if you run into any snags. Xbox One-S Controller left stick drifting..unusable :)

  5. Misses Quinzel... Thank you for getting back to me. I did go through chat and arranged for a replacement...it turned out to be just outside of the 90-day warranty but they offered a free one-time replacement. All I had to do was pay to ship the defective
controller back to them, which turned out to be a little over $13.

However, I got the new one (or the same?) and there are still issues. The Xbox told me to connect it via USB to update it, which I did..and for a few seconds after it drifted up like crazy, then stopped. It seemed fine and I played with it for a day, no
issues. But the next day I tried it, and now it's just drifting up nonstop. It registers another direction, but then reverts back to going up for as long as it can.

I'm assuming you're going to refer me to 'Contact Us' again, for a replacement. I'm just wondering if you can offer some insight, on how best to handle this so I get one that will stay usable for a significant amount of time, and hopefully where I don't
have to keep paying to ship it since I already paid the first time. I'm on disability and it was hard to get it together and get it out the first time... Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

  6. What an interesting interaction from the update! Yes, I will suggest you reach out to our phone or chat support again (if you haven't already).

It does sound like the update had done something, rather than the controller itself having a manufacturer malfunction. Especially since your console said to update via USB when there is wireless updates available.

When you get the new one, immediately connect that up to the console via USB cable. If you can, use a different one than the one you used last time to update it.

Let me know if you hit any snags. I apologize for my delay in this response; we were incredibly busy due to the BC sale last week. However, if you need further assistance, I'm happy to help out more.

Is Xbox One Controller of Poor Quality?

I have 3 controllers ..2 of them have the infamous drift(both left stick) and they also stick due to the grooves...

The day one is unusable now..B button sticks and left stick drifts!

The thumb sticks themselves are literally going to snap off one day due to the grooves being cut into them..I posted this vid before but it seems nobody else has this issue.

    Xbox Controllers

i have an original day one 2013 controller at home, that works perfect, every controller since the Xbox one s has come out get either stick drift on the left stick or bumber issues including the original elite.

I have a third party licenced controller, no issues (go figure).

i think as the left stick double as a click in which is mostly used for running in games causes this issue, but only on the official controllers.
