Xbox One s controller just blinks after turning on console, have to pull power plug to re-sync

I have an xbox one s and have been having a lot of trouble with the controller staying synced.

I have tried factory reset of console, plugging controllers in with usb to update, re syncing, nothing works.

The console has been tried in quick startup and power saving mode as well.

The issue is that when turning on console with controller or by hitting power button on console, 80% of the time the controller syncs fine, the other 20% it just blinks and does not sync, the only solution is to pull the plug from the back of the console
and then powering on at which point the controller connects just fine. Hard reset does not work, syncing again with sync buttons does not work.

This has become such a pain to deal with.

I can't believe that the most basic function these controllers are supposed to do, (connect to xbox) is not reliable.

I was hoping over the past couple years it would be fixed with an update but nothing.

This is at the point I'm going to be ditching it as I don't even use it to game, but use apps and blu-ray.

This happens on the controller that came with the unit as well as an additional one.

Why does the controller keep losing it's sync?

    :)

Xbox One s controller just blinks after turning on console, have to pull power plug to re-sync

unfortunately this is happening with no objects in the way, I have a coffee table between the xbox and couch, but the xbox is at a higher level, like you said though, the controllers work on Bluetooth and that should not even be an issue.

Searching online there are many people with this issue and it has gone on for way too long without a reliable fix.

Are you playing at a location where the controllers line of sight with the console is being blocked? Not that the controller necessarily needs direct line of sight, but it can objects like a desk or coffee table could be a potential culprit.

Xbox One S Controller Does Not Turn On Console. Also, Controller Remains On After Turning Console Off

Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.
    This solution worked. Thank you!

For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.

    Controller losing connection

Try this to see if it helps with your controlling loser sync.

Eject any disks in the console.

Hold down the Xbox logo on the front of the console for 5 to 6 seconds until it beeps and turns off.

After it is powered off, unplug the power from the back of the console itself. Wait 10-20 seconds. Plug the console back in and power it back up.

Re-sync your controller and continue playing.

October's update made my console garbage

Same here... When you turn on the xbox one x (didnt check if it happens with xbox one s) from the controller, about 5 seconds after that it looses sync to it and wont re-sync until you shut down the controller and turn it on again, tried it on 3 different
consoles with 6 different controllers, all that happened after the last update
