Xbox One S Controller doesnt connect to my PC via USB.

What cable have you tried this with? Most USB to Miro USB cables should work with the Xbox One controller for PCs, however if the cable you are using is not rated for data transfer then it won't work on PC.

I suggest you change the cable. Any Micro USB cable that is described as a 'charge and sync' or something similar should work.

If you want to use wireless you can either buy a USB Bluetooth dongle or buy the official Xbox One Gaming receiver for Windows 10.

Most, if not all, controller models 1708 do have Bluetooth functionality, whereas controller models
1697 do not have this functionality.

I would check for the model number located within the battery compartment.

A couple possible, simple fixes that can alleviate your issue.

1a: Try updating the controllers firmware via your console.

Xbox accessories app>'...'>Firmware version x.x..... .

(I manually check mine even if it says no update available).

1b: Try updating the controllers firmware via your PC/Laptop.

Start menu>xbox accessories app... Follow same procedure.

2: As my fellow colleagues above me posted, try connecting your controller to your laptop or PC with the micro USB cord provided with your console.

3: ️This is more advanced and ONLY suggest doing this if you are ABSOLUTELY certain you know what you're doing. ️

Update Bluetooth driver/adapter through your system manufacturers driver update settings.





Also, this may be confirmed or not.

Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

Connect with a USB cable

Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

Connect via Bluetooth

Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."
