Xbox One S Controller Does Not Turn On Console. Also, Controller Remains On After Turning ...

Hello,

I recently purchased an Xbox One S.

Per the manual (Turn on or turn off Xbox 360 | Turn on or turn off Xbox 360 wireless controller | Turn on Xbox 360) I should be able to turn on my Xbox One by pressing and holding the Xbox guide button. This does not work. I have to hit the power button on the console.

Additionally, when I hold the Xbox guide button and select Console Off the controller remains on. That is the Xbox guide button stays lit, unless I take the batteries out. Despite this, it does not turn on the Xbox one. I've taken to selecting controller
off, then turning off the Xbox by hitting the power button. This seems to be the only solution.

I have synced the controller with it multiple times. I have checked the settings and it is synced with my Xbox Live account. Otherwise the controller works fine. I tested it in the settings, and all the buttons work.

Does anyone know of a solution?

Xbox Controller not functioning correctly ##

When i turn on the controller it does not turn on the xbox. However when i turn on the xbox manually and it will connect to the controller.

Second: When i use the controller to turn off the xbox the controller itself remains on and so far the only way of turning it off is to remove the batteries.

Now i have done every troubleshooting method i could find via google and on the Microsoft pages. I have resynced the controller several times, I made absolutely sure that the controller is up to date with the latest update.

Controller works fine when i manually turn the xbox on.

Batteries are brand new.

Also, it is the controller that comes with the xbox one x bundle.

The controller appears to work fine. The issue is when i turn the controller on to start the Xbox it does not. When i use the controller to turn the xbox off, It does turn the xbox off however the controller remains on.

Also after that connect your controller with cable. And then try to turn off the console with the controller. And then turn it on.

 

Hi, power the xbox and controller on, then press and hold the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds.

When the xbox powers off pull the power cord out of the back of the xbox and wait two minutes. Reconnect the power cord and press the power button on the xbox to power it on. Power on the controller and then try using the controller to power on/off the xbox.

 

This solution worked. Thank you!

For anyone else reading having this issue, I still had to re-sync the controller after going through the above process, in order to solve that problem. After turning on the Xbox one with the power button sync it the normal way by hitting the sync button
on the front of the Xbox One S, and then holding the sync button on top of the controller. Thereafter, the guide button on the controller will power on the console.

However, the above solution did immediately fix the fact that the controller wouldn't turn off when I powered the console off.
