xbox one s controller constantly disconnecting

recently purchased an xbox one s and the controlle keeps disconnecting from the console but the light stays on, i need to take out the batteries just to get it to reconnect again, tested other controllers. tried power cycling my console, nothing has worked

anyone have a solution?

Thank you for the response. Kind of what I was expecting for what will be needed to be done to fix it. I'll have to look into cost for repair vs just buying a new one.

If your controller keeps disconnecting while plugged trough USB to the console you must send the console (as you mentioned it happens with several controllers) to repair, as that would need to be some hardware situation in the console

Try to use the controller connected with a usb cable just to verify if the batteries are the issue.
