Xbox One S controller - buttons not registering presses every time

I've just bought myself an Xbox One S controller (mainly for its Bluetooth support) and immediately noticed that, while playing, I had to repeat button presses occasionally. This was particularly apparent with the B button so I started digging and found
out that when I press the button slightly off-center it will often not register the press despite making an audible click. This side-effected can be mitigated by hitting the buttons harder, however in my regular 'soft' style I must say it is quite annoying.

As I wrote, the issue is most apparent with the B button, however I am able to reproduce it on AXY buttons as well. This makes me wonder if it something "normal" with the S controller. With my old Xbox One controller, I don't observe the problem...

Home Screen

Hello,

Every time I press the home button on my Xbox One S controller, the home screen does not show up. It makes the home screen sound but does not show up. This means that once I enter a game, I cannot exit it.

Can't power off with media remote

Hi

I've been using the Xbox One media remote with my One S and a few weeks ago, it stopped registering when I hold a button, while still registering button presses.

This means I can't turn the power off with the media remote the same way I can with a regular controller.

I assumed the remote was at fault and yesterday I bought a new one but it now works the same way.

Anyone else having this problem?

i would take it back for a replacement as it sounds like its bad.

Turn on your Xbox One.
Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button. The Xbox button will flash.
Press and release the Pair button on the Xbox.
Xbox One S console. The Pair button is on the front lower right, next to the Infrared receiver and blaster.
Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller's Pair button (a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times. That means it's searching for a console. The Xbox button stays lit once it's connected. Hope this helps

I got my replacement from Amazon and it's doing exactly the same thing. Inconsistent A button press. I used the xbox accessories app to test (the flask icon) to make sure it was not the game (monster hunter world) and every once in a while the A button will
not register when pressed (I have problems with A only). Sometimes it doesn't register for 5-7 presses in a row.

It's sad. I mean I like every other aspects of this controller but if it fails with face button press, I don't have a lot of confidence with the quality, or especially the durability in the long run. How can a controller fail with the face buttons? Face

You might have to re-sync the controller to the Xbox. Press the little button on the top of your controller until the home button flashes quickly then press the little button on the front of your Xbox one s or x or press the button next to the CD drive

Have you tried re-syncing your controller and xbox together?

Turn on the Xbox One you want to sync with.
Next, turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button. The Xbox button will flash, indicating that it’s looking for a console to sync with.
Press and release the Connect button on your console. On the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, you’ll find this at the bottom-right of your system, under the power button. For the original model Xbox One, the button is on the left side of the console,
right around the corner from the disc slot.
Press and hold the Connect button on your controller. You’ll find this small circular button on the top of your controller. The Xbox button should flash a few times, then stay solid once connected.
