Xbox One S controller Bluetooth compatibility

Hello, I've recently purchased a Xbox One S controller for use on my PC via USB and found out it not only had bluetooth but could also pair with my phone (LG G2), working perfectly with Minecraft even.

A few days ago I decided to upgrade the controller firmware using the Xbox Accessories app, it all went smoothly and the controller still works perfectly with my PC, however it seems this latest firmware broke bluetooth pairing with my phone.

The support page does indeed mention only some Samsung devices are supported, for Gear VR, however that while *some* other devices might also work in a "limited" fashion they are not supported whatsoever.

The page also says Microsoft is looking to make the feature compatible with more devices, so I came here to know if there's any work being put to bring compatibility to more devices, specially since apparently (from looking at discussions on other websites)
other people also had their controllers no longer work with Android after upgrading the firmware.

Would it be possible for Microsoft to allow rolling back the firmware? I *really* regret having upgraded the firmware as it seemingly provided no benefits and broke bluetooth pairing.

If it's not possible to rollback the firmware for security reasons or otherwise, then could you share some light on why exactly support has been broken? Was it accidental or intentional?

    Sincerely waiting for a reply.

    :)

  2. Вывод звука с Xbox One S через Bluetooth акустику [Translation - Audio output from Xbox One S via Bluetooth speakers]

    Hi Alexander,

Thanks for reaching out! The Xbox One S is not equipped to support Bluetooth devices. The one option would be to

Connect the Xbox One Wireless controller
and use the 3.5mm jack to connect/receive audio through a Bluetooth speaker. In regards to the wireless headphones, check out this troubleshooting page for

Xbox One controller and headset compatibility
    .

Hope this helps. Let us know

  3. Does the Xbox One S console have Bluetooth Capability? I.E Bluetooth Headsets

There is no Bluetooth radio component in the Xbox One S console itself.

The controllers connect to the Xbox One S the same way the controllers connect to the original Xbox One: proprietary RF. You could technically connect an Xbox One S controller to an original Xbox One, and an original Xbox controller to the Xbox One S.

The Bluetooth functionality in the new Xbox One S controller is specifically made for connecting the controller to a Windows 10 PC with the "Anniversary" update, which has the drivers needed for the controller when connected via Bluetooth.

Xbox One S controller Bluetooth compatibility

    Hi there,

as far as I know there is no official source stating anything regarding the cause for this, but it could be accidentillly broken or it could be that it wasn't allowed by Android and was therefor reverted. It could be anything.

Best thing to do is to leave feedback (and Vote for existing) at feedback.xbox.com the Preview team looks at that side for highly requested features and this could be one of them

I'm afraid there is no option to roll back to older updates

Bluetooth Controls Compatibility with Xbox One S All Digital (Compatibilidade de Controles Bluetooth com o Xbox One S All Digital)

The xbox one controller doesn't connect to the console using bluetooth, they use a specific Microsoft wireless protocol.

This is because this protocol guarantee better performances in terms of battery consumption and latency.

The xbox one controller also supports bluetooth (depending on the model, from xbox one s launch they always have bluetooth) in order to use it also with laptop and other mobile device.

Therefore if you want to buy a controller for your xbox one S all digital you should search one that is specifically compatible with xbox one.

Bluetooth Controls Compatibility with Xbox One S All Digital (Compatibilidade de Controles Bluetooth com o Xbox One S All Digital)

Yes, because all the official xbox one controllers are compatible with all xbox one consoles (original, S, S all digital & X) and even with the future Series X. All the xbox one controllers have the wireless protocol, the newer versions of the controller
have also the bluetooth but it is not used to communicate with the xbox one consoles.

Are xbox one controllers the same as xbox one s controllers?

You can use a regular Xbox One controller on an Xbox One S console, and you can use an Xbox One S controller on a regular Xbox One console.

All controllers connect to the Xbox console the same way, via proprietary RF.

If you are confused because of the addition of Bluetooth in the Xbox One S, just know that Bluetooth is only built into the Xbox One S controller (there is actually no bluetooth functionality in the Xbox One S console itself). The Bluetooth in the controller
is just a secondary method of wireless connectivity designed solely for connecting the controller to a Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth (without the need of a
USB adapter). It connects to the Xbox One/One S the same way as the original controllers do.
